The Balmoral is definitely a treat, the service you receive as soon as you enter the building is second to none, very friendly staff and the food was exceptional! Would certainly recommend it!
The most amazing hotel I've ever stayed in. Worth every penny.
Back in 2016. Went into the Balmoral today to ask them about booking a room for our wedding night and a minimoon in Edinburgh - possibly staying for a week or so in the process. We initially asked for information for the one night as we are still unsure as to our honeymoon plans.
Be aware that you will be paying Princes Street prices.
Prestigious exterior hotel, prestigious price but room with supposedly a very average view of the castle. The view of the castle is through a window that cannot be opened. We stayed at the Scottman Hotel (across the bridge) for two days and paid half the price for a room twice the size with a real view and real windows and great service. in short, the Balmoral is a better hotel but not at this price
Fantastic hotel to stay in. Room service was exceptional. Staff very friendly. Amenities are amazing. Great location, in the middle of everything.
I am quite certain I have never experienced such a high level of service from such a broad spectrum of hotel employees as my family and I did when we visited the Balmoral Hotel in August, 2017. From the moment we pulled up front in the rain, and a valet ran down to the car, took all our luggage inside, and looked after us with a helpful umbrella, to Jenny at the Reception Desk (!!), to the helpful Bell Hop and the young man from Slovakia who brought up our room service meal, everyone was exceedingly nice, polite and helpful. I've been to plenty of 4 and 5 Star Hotels in the past, but the difference at the Balmoral is that you are made to feel like you're at home, and that you are a welcome guest. I've been to some hotels where I felt like I was not welcome... In fact it seemed that I was an annoyance. In short the Balmoral is a wonderfully comfortable hotel, that makes you feel like you're at home and a welcomed and valued guest. I recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
Went for afternoon tea in the palm courtyard, and it was lovely. The atmosphere is fanatic, the Scottish teas were very tasty and the food was superb.
Great service from Shannon (Jennifer Lawrence lookalike)
I've just had my graduation ball at the Balmoral. Staff was very professional. Location is amazing and the interior design is very fancy
Afternoon tea. Wonderful selection of teas and delicious food. Brilliant service.
Expensive, rocky, stuffy. Lives only on its dusty fame and great facade. Room for this price at best mediocre.
Nice variety of cocktails and beers, though rather expensive, had we not spent last two days in Gleneagles we would have been shocked compared to other prices in the capital
Such a fantastic place to go and chill out. Quite a masculine bar but so stylish and comfortable. We had reserved two tables as there were 14 of us and a few folk did the whisky flights which is 5 whiskies and a tutored tasting (amazing)
The bar staff were great and really looked after us.
We had drinks at The Scotch. Wonderful experience with very knowledgeable staff. Ask for Cameron. Highly recommend.
Excellent quality hotel, great food and attentive staff.
Incredibly beautiful hotel with impeccable service to boot!
Stayed here two weeks ago for my honeymoon. The service was beyond incredible-there were chocolates welcoming us to the room one night, rose petals on the bed another. We wanted to tickets to a show, the concierge got them immediately. Needed dinner reservations at a seafood restaurant, no problem.
We stayed at many 4 and 5 star hotels during the course of our trip and the level of service we received at the Balmoral was incomparable.
Wonderful hotel, excellent service! Not impressed by some of the Concierge staff.
They could do better, much better!
Too full of themselves!!!
Good service. Bespoke cocktail was full of flavour.
We always try to drop past here for a drink when were in town. The building it's self is outstanding. The building was awesome before the refurbishment. Now it's just wowaweewa. We love it. The staff are great and there's a great choice of beer and hard booze. It's brill
Simply spectacular!!! Emblematic building in a strategic location and with an outstanding taste. What is missing is that many of the hotel workers are fluent in Spanish.
I have stayed here regularly over the past few years and found it lacking the last few times. my door had been forced open, it wasnt fixed when I asked, attitude was poor when I pointed it out (question - what is this - pointing to damage to door. answer - i dont know Its not my hotel). Also numerous other small issues with the room that needed fixing like knobs that had fallen off, shower door not closing, gap between carpeting in room and tiles bathroom with freying edges and visible underlay. Its such a shame as the quality if fittings is excellent, but the maintenance is lacking. A few other issues - I asked for something to be waiting for me at checkout but it wasnt, I booked a cab to the airport but it was booked for the wrong time, all small things but I expect more from this quality (and priced) hotel. I gave feedback at reception but they didnt take it on board, so I emailed customer services who never responded. Very disappointing.
Decadent, delicious and divine afternoon tea at Palm Court. Silver service, treats to take home, atmosphere one of elegant calm accompanied with soothing sounds emanating from a harpist. Treat yourself!
Beautiful surroundings fantastic service cocktails delicious perfect end to our nite
I went to the Balmoral for a couple of drinks with my wife. The drinks were great although quite expensive. I think they were renovating the bar which meant drinks were served in another room which has really low ceilings so I had to be careful not to bang my head and the toilets were located 2 floors away. The Balmoral has good public transport links with buses going right past the door and it's located right next to the train station. Overall I enjoyed my time there but I don't think I'll be back
A nice quiet stop point in the centre of a busy town - service is first class - however it is a bit pricey....
Did not stay here but visited those who were staying. Top quality, top prices
The bar is really nice, a relaxed atmosphere prevails in stylish surroundings. High quality drinks and food, it isn't cheap but it is a great experience.
I really like the feeling that The Balmoral has - distinct, elegant and luxurious interior; the staff were super nice; and I also think the conference room was huge and accommodating.
Nice place a bit worn in places but a really good night was had on NYE. Not cheap but its only once a year. Would go back.
Central high quality hotel next to the Waverly station. Very central location for all the Edinburgh visitor attractions. Fantastic Plam Court has a harpist playing whilst you have afternoon tea, an experince not to be missed, on of the best in Edinburgh.
Incredible location. Excellent service. Breakfast at Hadrian's is great. Scotch Bar has a dizzying array of, um, Scotch. Serviceable gym for a reasonable workout (dumbbells, barbells, a few good machines). Beautiful rooms.
A great Hotel to stay overnight if you want to visit Edinburgh.
The hotel is located in the center 10 minutes from the castle and on the main shopping street; in the same there are several restaurants with a wide choice of menus: from the brasserie to the "number one" which has been reviewed in the Michelin guide for more than 10 years.
The staff are very friendly and cordial as well as being available for any questions.
Speedy service, good food, passable wine, overall quality is not as good as what I expect from a Bistrot with these prices.
Highlights: First class address in Edinburgh. You can have a good time in this elegant grand hotel. The rooms are very tastefully decorated. The service is always excellent. Lowlights: nothing to complain about. Conclusion: First class recommendation!
Absolutely fantastic stunningly historic Hotel in the heart of Edinburgh.
Went & stayed over the new year period 2017-2018, Fantastic, spacious & luxury hotel. Rooms set to exceptional qualities, excellent customer services. Freshly cooked a la carte food, the menu is delicious. The rooms are to the highest standards, cleaned twice daily. Large widescreen tv with spacious comfortable conditions. All staff polite & friendly, I also went to Edinburgh castle where you get fantastic scenic views. Also try going to the large Waverley shopping complex which is situated at the side of the hotel, the new year sales where on & I got some great bargains so if you go, try going around the Hogmanay season as you will not quite find an atmosphere like it just after the festive season. Also have a nice relaxing stroll through the cobblestones of The Old Town where you will come across small shops full of items you wouldn t see in your average shop. Down below they also put on a tour of all the old tunnels and the old dungeons situated below. I would definitely come back here and also recommend you give it a try. A truly enjoyable new year the Hogmanay festivities are incredible. I definitely recommend you experience it. Thank you for a wonderful time..
The Balmoral Hotel is located in the heart of Edinburgh. While visiting the city of Edinburgh I visited Prince bar here. Thought I would enter a brasserie, but it turned out to be a fairly luxurious place. There was an extremely friendly welcome by a hostess, who assigned me a place and where I had a quiet pint. It is a bit more pricey than in a Pub, but you are comfortable there.
There is also a restaurant where you can dine in style.
Only stayed for a drink. It was such a beautiful bar and i can recommend the Old Fashioned cocktail!
Excellent location. Excellent food. I recommend the chef's dessert, a delight.
Excellent hotel. All the staff went out of their way to help us.
The hotel is right next to the train station and only a few minutes walk to the Royal mile.
We had an amazing stay at Balmoral. Everything was more than perfect.
It is amazing, very central and they also speak all languages, it has a spa, heated pool, they take your suitcase and everything
A very plush hotel. Needs a better sweet selection, though.
Absolutely stunning inside. Our food and drinks were perfect
Good service, old hotel (part of the charm) which could use some upgrades in certain areas (Windows maybe) overall good, very friendly staff
The location is great, in the city center, with easy access to the public transportation to the airport within 25-30 minutes for under $10. The rooms were fine, with nicer bathrooms but average beds for a standard room. The BEST part of the hotel was the concierge who setup all of our outings and even got us tickets for the military tatoo(march). They were exceptional..
Gorgeous spa! Therapists were super professional and exceptional at their craft. Will be back!
Very calm, harp music being played above the Palm Court and excellent afternoon tea being served.
Far to expensive and anti social just because of location...snobbish and full of twonks....poor reflection of Scotland and sad reflection of it s people.
Service was excellent, exactly what you would expect from such an establishment.
Enjoyed a pre booked Christmas dinner in Hadrians. Food was good but wasn't over indulgent (which you'd like with Christmas veg, gravy, etc). Service was OK but not exceptional in the restaurant. Drinks in the bar were well served. Overall an enjoyable experience.
After traveling through Europe all week this was one of the best hotels on our trip.
The service was very courteous and chatty and went out of their way to help.
Our room had personality and was very clean. The marble bathroom had a classic feel with modern amenities.
The view of the old town was very pretty even though it's pretty far away.
When we come back to Scotland we will come back.
5 Star Hotel with impeccable service. Food is very good too.
Go to the bar, try the Chablis. It speaks for itself. Ask for some roasted almonds and relax. Never fails. Bit pricey but hey, you know what youre getting!
Fantastic stay at the Hotel , It was our 10 year wedding anniversary and the hotel staff couldn't of done enough for us. Thanks for the great stay we will be back again soon.
The best hotel in Edinburgh.....probably the best I've ever been to. A finely tuned balance of service, affordability, luxury and comfort. Nothing is too much of a bother. The staff are so polite and accommodating. There's a gentle pulse of life that continuously lulls a person.....from the background chatter of other visitors, to the soft lighting and pleasant, warm scent in the foyer. It feels like home.
When you are staying in Paris, Hotel Bamoral is a perfect choice. For a hotel of this category, the rooms are elegantly furnished and the beds are very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Very nice place to stay. Good location, pretty much in the middle of everything. Staff was wonderful.
I went to a charity event and was very dissapointed by the food quality :-( outstanding building and great service, though
