Really disorganized. The layout of the airport is also horrible. There is no sitting space for passengers waiting at the gates for boarding. Ryanair made it worse. The worst airport I have been to.

And once you got through security there is no smoking area. Strange that 99% of European Airports cater for all their Customers.

Absurd place the checks are carried out in 2 people with 5,000 people in a row, people who do not have bracelets, necklaces, rings, belts, nothing go to the scanner, I understand since they have scanned 2 times that they were the tattoos that disturbed. in essence I left Mile end at 16.50 despite being in perfect time and I had done online check, they made me miss the flight Of 20.05 to Pisa, to get to the gate I think there is more than 2km. to pass between absurd shops that only serve to make absurd turns and get to the gates very far late, not at all functional, there is no assistance, there are only people who despite working at the airport speak only and exclusively and rude mind his language. go to this airport, don't go to England, if you don't want to spend a weekend it's scary without having done anything and being in the rules.

Worst airport I've ever been to. A surreal Kafkaesque nightmare of almost tragi-comic proportions - almost. A genuine, bona fide marvel of sadistic incompetence and mercenary commercialist aspirations. The place offers a harrowing, nail-biting exercise in avoiding multiple nervous breakdowns.

Unsure why you have to put your liquids into a silly plastic bag when you're under the limit. There is also a considerable walk through the multitude of shops before you hit the cafeteria and eventually you're own gate. This makes walking to your gate after the frustrating and slow security check, annoyingly long and unnecessary.

Good airport for airports, being quite small. The only flaw (but probably caused by maintenance work) is the sign that it was not very good ... but in any case the road is not difficult (and co if I could I trust that you do not miss)
Baggage recollection is a bit confusing because there are so many belts nearby but it's not a big problem.
Another critical aspect is the absent benches before the security checks

I would rather not give a star at all ... Stansted...

I would rather not give a star at all ... Stansted is a complete desaster and travelling with Ryanair a real nightmare. I guess paying a cheaper price means also to put up with a horrific service. I have never seen such a big queue at customer service because of passengers who have missed their flights due to check-in problems.
When I travel with other companies within Europe it is always enough to be at the airport two or one and a half hours before. Not with Ryanair. Even not when you did the check-in online.
I recommend everybody who has become a victim of the (so called) low fares to be at the airport at least three hours in advance otherwise you wont make it through the checkin and the security on time. The gates close half an hour before the flight and at the end you will end up at a long queue with other passengers who have "missed" their flights because they were on time at the gate. You will end up paying a much higher fare for a short flight - I guess thats the way how they offset their low costs.

My brother just noticed that the Braille on the bathroom signs is neither raised nor carved but just printed on, so it completely defeats the purpose... what a curious thing!

Other than that, Stansted is alright as long as one plans ahead

As airports go it's OK. The new shopping experience is a pain having to go past all the shops to get to the aircraft I can see this being an issue for families. Lounge service is OK see separate entry. Do leave time to get to your gate as soon as it's shown on the screen 55 - 59 are a good 10 mind walk.

Garbage airport flown all over the world this IS THE WORST. Wait an hour just to get through customs. I saw a lady miss her connecting flight to Portugal because you have to go through their stupid customs even if you're not actually visiting the UK. And they only give 4 hours of free Wi-Fi. GARBAGE AIRPORT.

Honestly, the airport has pleasantly impressed me. It has everything you need in a corridor that leads to a "square" where there are gastronomic proposals of chain and not. The intra-airport shuttle service was excellent.

Very poor airport. I have never seen such a dirty airport in all my travels. Seems that there is a severe lack of cleaning staff. Also severe lack of seating! Security queues are always long, even during off peak times.

Really, security is a very dark point of the airport: the staff is very slow and prefers to talk about looking after passengers waiting to get on their plane. I had to stay 1h to safety because of various technical problems (it can still pass) but mostly because the security officers decided to check all the luggage and without too much hurry. In addition, they are behind the counter but only 2 are in charge of the suitcases while the 3 others are behind discussing between them and to those who are themselves checking our luggage ... really one of the worst airports that I did !!

This airport is about 65 km from London, and getting to the city is really complicated. There are two ways, through the train, which has a crazy price, more than 50 euros per person x return (the price varies if you buy online or on arrival) or through the bus, National Express, slow, about 1 hour and a half but much cheaper. (I recommend buying it online, even in this case you save a lot of money), I also add something very interesting, that from this place you can, without spending a fortune on trains, also take buses that go to other cities in the United Kingdom, I saw on the billboards direct connections to Birmingham etc. That said, everything is neat, and in my case the controls are very fast and effective and not too invasive. I also add that the staff has always been kind. The only negative is the prices of the stores a bit 'expensive, and do not change the money in money changers (in which there is written commission .... and .... I think) because they eat too much in the spread of currencies.

Actually, less than a star!

Actually, less than a star!
The security control is extremely slow because the staff makes chilled small talk (the flight has already been called and we were there with enough time buffer).
Then you are led through the Duty free area for an eternity and then you have to walk ten to fifteen minutes to the gate, or race (which is not easy as a person with a backache ... Conclusion ... ten minutes before departure we were wet sweat and moaning in the plane

Construction underway for quite a while and the airport suffers as a result. Does not post general gates ahead of minimum time requiring you to wait at central area and rush to gate which usually takes some time. I've never experienced a speedy queue on security: I appreciate this is a "necessary evil" but Stansted seems slower than many other airports I've been to. Airport saved by merit of being serviced by many Ryanair destinations.

Many people at sprint to connecting flights. Arrivals and departures are handled via the same rooms. Therefore I had to pass through the sec check twice because I made a wrong turn and I no longer believed that I wanted to leave and did not arrive. The whole airport is rip-off. Hardly seating. Pusher columns in duty free. Everything too tight and dirty.

The worst travel experience I have ever had, and w...

The worst travel experience I have ever had, and we fly a lot. The Ryanair check in is appauling. We had to queue five times at four different desks just to check in and drop bags. Never have I observed such chaos and confusion at ceck in. Whatever happened to helpful staff on multiple desks and a queue of travellers? The self check in machines stood practically empty as the travellers were stuck in a bottleneck of confusion with the staff. To be fair to the staff, there were a few helpful and friendly ones who actually knew what they were doing. Thanks to them we made the flight. Going through to security was traumatic. With a toddler asleep in a pushchair and two older children we were directed through the easy access line only to be met by an extraordinarily rude unprofessional employee barking at us about being in the disabled lane, closing the lane and removing us to join the general queue. I do not mind being in the general queue at all but we were directed through this lane by her colleague and all she needed to do was to ask us politely to change lanes. This is the opposite of how she handled the situation ... An unpleasant experience. If you do actually make it this far you then have circles and circles of shops and cafes to navigate with no obvious end, adding further stress and unnecessary delay. I will never fly through Stansted again and would advise others not to either, unless they have a spare three or four hours before the flight and enjoy chaos and persecution.

Just starting to ramp flying back up again so not many flights yet at this time. Therefore still really easy to get in and out of the airport. But that also means most shops and restaurants remain closed and services are limited.

Horrible experience. Huge number of people crammed into a small area, herded past shops, not nearly enough seats. Everything geared to getting people to spend in shops. Not used Stansted for a few years and it's actually got worse in every respect EXCEPT for the security checking area, which is now fast and efficient.

The worst staff at security. Rude and unpleasant, seems like army and police academy rejects!!! Never that I ve seen such an approach to travellers/customers on any European airport. First off, I had no idea I was flying out of this airport when I purchased my ticket to Istanbul from "London". Turns out the airport is extremely far from central London, the staff is unfriendly, and the labyrinth style layout is awful. Yes it was my fault for not noticing what airport I was really flying out of, but avoid this one at all costs.

Airport that matches the prices of its flights.

Airport that matches the prices of its flights.
Entry: Catastrophe with understaffed but friendly passport control (minimum 20 minutes in the evening).
Connection: Lots of inexpensive buses to C. London (to Baker Street sometimes tickets for 4 euros with National Express), expensive, but pleasant, fast trains (50 m in duration, Stansted Express) every 15 minutes until midnight (book cheaper on the Internet beforehand) to London Liverpool St. Free shuttle to the Village Rental Car, from there 5 minutes by car to the M11 motorway.
Security check: For the number of passengers handled, it is still relatively quick, but chaotic.
Departure: Littered, overcrowded waiting area, where you first have to squeeze through duty free shops for 5 minutes. WH Smith Meal Deal good value for 3.99 pounds.
Gates: Depending on the number, you either have to walk a long distance or take a poorly timed train. Plan a lot of time!
Not the worst airport in London, despite negative points. Gatwick and Luton are just as badly connected; Heathrow only faster if you take an overpriced train, tube also takes 50 minutes.

Definitely improving - parking and hotel options are good and there seems to be investment into the right areas. On the downside, may as well be Cambridge Stansted given the distance from the capital, not enough seating before and after security and long queues at peak times.

This is not an airport. This is a shopping mall that has planes. Most airports have large shopping areas, but with stansted you literally have to walk for like 20 minutes to get from the security lines to the gates. Its literally a serpentine route through as many horrendous shops that all blast perfume in your face, just to make it to the gate. And it lacks both comfortable seating and sufficient seats in the waiting area, where pretty much everyone has to wait prior to boarding because budget airlines never have confirmed gates. Its literally just benches made of wooden slats. This is the worst airport I have ever been to. I never thought I would encounter an airport worse than Heathrow, but standsted takes the cake.

If you don't go to a bar for a drink, you don't have a socket in the waiting room, which seems very outdated, everyone needs to charge the cell phone, if you have to wait a long time I recommend carrying a battery bank. Then the queues for check in and controls are very long, and the gates there are some that are very far, so I recommend checking in as soon as it is enabled if you do not arrive in time. In my case it took me a few minutes at the duty free after I had to run less.

If you have to drop someone off here be prepared for a very stressful and a complete rip off experience! Due to having to pay, even if you just park up for a couples minutes just to let someone out of the car you end up spending a fortune as the queues to get out are long and you are being charged a pound a minute (after a 10 minute flat rate fee). Also there are no visible signs to say that you can pay by card so you end up stuck in the queue worrying about whether you have the exact change!

The worst airport I have ever departed from. It was truly akin to being in an overcroweded cattle car. Had to stand in ridiculously long lines to get checked in. There was an employee that was simply herding people. If you asked him to look at your document to make sure you were in the right line, he would tell you to get out of the line, go look at the electronic board to see if you were in the right zone, then get back in the the line.once you made it through that there was the ridiculous security to get through. I travel alot all over the world and I have never experienced a security process like that. Again, it was like heardung cattle. Then when one finally makes it through security you MUST go through a very large circular Duty Free shop that never seems to end to get to your gates. The worst expirncd I ve ever had. No one was being helpful at all. I will avoid that airport for the rest of my life!
