Wish they were open later than 12 midnight but it was a Tuesday. Great house band. Musicians and singers were phenomenal! Food and service were good too! Beer wasn't cold enough and the martinis were bad but otherwise this place was a good time!

I will not be returning... in an establishment full of White patrons (most of which are tourists) my friends and I (young Black educated and gainfully employed individuals) were treated like we didn't belong there AFTER we had already bought beverages at the patio window while waiting and excess of 45 minutes, paid the cover charge, AND been seated! I think the worst part was that is the culprit was a young Black woman... yes we were discriminated against by one of our own.

Full Story Below...

[Chaotic and Uncomfortable] I was born and raised in Memphis and never once been to BB King's Restaurant. I was home earlier this week and decided to have a few of my friends meet me there Tuesday night (09/18).

[Chaos] I actually called first to reserve a table for 6. The young lady placed me on hold for a manager, then after waiting 4 or 5 minutes I was connected to a VOICEMAIL! Two things:1.) there should be a booking or reservation list with the host or whomever is tasked to field phone calls, if you do not take reservations then I can accept that answer and 2.) If you say hold for a manager I expect to speak with a human being PRESENT AT THE ESTABLISHMENT!

We drove down anyway and were told we had a 30 minute wait and that there would be a $5 cover charge... no problem; I assume that's because a LIVE band was playing (which we had no clue), we proceeded to order drinks from the window and sit outside at the patio tables.

[More Chaos] We ended up waiting about 50 minutes instead. We get to the hostess after our buzzer goes off and we're asked 4 times "are you sure your buzzer went off?" After finally finding us an escort to our table we are walked upstairs and seated.

[Uncomfortable] 2 friends were no shows so it only ended up being 4 of us. We sat for about 5 minutes with no service before my friend noticed some menus at a register nearby... he reached over and grabbed one. It was then whe a young Black woman approaches us with quite a bit of attitude "who let ya'll up here? Ya'll can't just walk in and sit down." After explaining to the woman we had been seated by one of the hosts she stood there for a second with her hands on her hip then walked away. Completed annoyed and disappointed with the whole thing I suggested to them we leave. We didn't cause a ruckus or storm out... we just left.

No of us were dressed up but we were casually dressed, well groomed, etc. and to be treated like trash because we happened to be the ONLY Black faces (minus the band and restaurant employees) is frustrating. We had already spent money at the patio, paid our cover, and were planning to continue our patronage ordering food and more drinks. Maybe she's had poor experience waiting "Black'" tables, maybe they weren't good tippers, maybe she thought we were rift raft.

We won't go back. We are all hard workers, pulled ourselves by our bootstraps, one of us is a Army Veteran, all to get out of the circumstances we grew up in.

BBQ chicken wad crazy good. Fantastic live music. This place is exactly what I expected when I thought of Beale St. Only reason I docked a start was because we had to pay a cover even though we were getting dinner and drinks, seems silly to charge a cover to people who are already spending a fair amount.

Great staff. Greeted by a black guy with a "hug" which was pretty different and cool. On the pricey side but great food and atmospher. Will return for that hug experience...makes you feel awkward but welcome at the same time

Pretty good restraunt but problem with seating arrangements. Tables were empty still i had to wait for 20mins to be seated.
After food was served, served took ages to come back for check, it seemed as if server was also drunk.

Awesome food. Had catfish and bbq platter, soooo good. $10 cover was a little ridiculous, considering we had dinner there. Bands were good. Wait staff door on upper level was VERY annoying....it slammed every time someone used it. Very disruptive.

Well what a fun place! A great place for food and music! We had a nice dinner upstairs and then went to the bar area and had cocktails. Listened to the house band! A must stop on Beale Street!

Ms. Relissha who works in the gift shop was such a sweet heart! I arrived in Memphis on a Sunday night, and they had live music here. The meat on the ribs fell right off the bone --- absolutely delicious. The music was really nice. All the instrumentalist and vocalists were great :D I highly recommend heading to this place for a quick visit and some drinks if you end up in Memphis on any day of the week =]
