Very nice whether you are looking for a picnic spot or a nice trail. They do have space for receptions as well and a playground. I enjoyed using their self-guided tour found online. Definitely a beautiful place.

Everyone there was friendly.
Huge old trees and and alot of leaf litter for bugs to eat and nest.
Watch out for bees with small children.

It is simply lovely, beautiful, peaceful place oasis in the city! The trees are utterly remarkable. These trees are old heads!! Along the walking trails are fields, ponds, swamps, gardens, and picnic areas. This is one of those places that is worth your time! Can't believe I didn't know about this before!!!

Great fun to see the food gardens, goats and chickens! There was a woman with an information table at one of the houses where we got maps and pamphlets about the property and history of the original families. Well kept and clean but no bathrooms.

Nice place to visit. The trails are not marked well and most of the park is overgrown. If the secret garden is open go see that. It's a neat spot. The community garden was also nice to tour.

Awbury Arboretum is a Philadelphia gem! There are 55 acres of accessible green space providing trails for walking and connecting with nature. The grounds contain a variety native plants, trees and beautiful flowers. In addition there is even a farm with chickens and goats. Wandering through the arboretum is a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Some days one needs to leave city turbulence and walk quietly among the trees..something good.. about nature and listening..and seeing things so majestic.. walk with the meditation of years. Of joy...and you learn about people who still need as I do a spiritual retreat..in such places..right here in Philadelphia...Peace

I had my wedding and reception here and I am glad I did. Branda is the events coordinator and she was extremely cool and helpful along the way, giving me links to vendors and everything. I wanted an outside venue that was nice but also affordable and Awbury was it. If I could have afforded it, I would have hired day-of staff to help set up everything because it was a lot of work. But it turned out beautifully and Awbury had the perfect scenery. I was going to do Morris Arboretum but it was not as flexible as Awbury as far as caterers and it was more expensive. I didn't like Morris' reception area choices either, but again Awbury had flexible options. I had my reception outside, but the cake and photo booth were inside so people mostly stayed in the Cope house after dinner. I got competed on how beautiful the place was. The only thing I wish was that I could have invited more people but I was trying to stay in budget- the more people you have, the more money it costs- still not an expensive wedding venue.

Beutiful grounds! The area has little trails throughout that you can follow and explore. Download the map! Great place to go to anytime of the year but spring, summer and fall are ideal.

What a wonderful, wonderful place! Open 365 days/year, sunrise to sunset. Free. Truly welcoming, young staff. In an area that's desperately in need of nature, this is a real gift. Highest recommendation for place, history, programs...

A wonderful place to take a gentle walk, sit on a bench and contemplate the fields and trees. Even sit on the porch of the main house and watch the rain. Art shows, dinners by local chefs, all sorts of great events and lots of nature and quiet too.

I would like to thank The Awbury Arboretum and Branda for helping us host a memorable and beautiful 90th birthday party for my grandmother, Marie Emlen, who grew up on the Awbury Estate. This "little" party quickly grew in scope to a fully catered luncheon for 50 guests with table linens, chair covers, gorgeous floral arrangements and a chartered tour of Philadelphia by bus. Branda was exceptionally helpful with referring us to the best florist, caterer, and even a bus company to take us on a tour of Philly. The Awbury Arboretum is a beautiful venue with gorgeous grounds and it was incredibly heartwarming to be able to celebrate this 90th birthday in the place where my grandmother started her life. Awbury has charm and character and holds a dear place in our family s heart. It makes me so happy that Awbury and these highly skilled vendors were able to make this a 90th birthday and family reunion to tell about for years. Thank you again to Branda at The Awbury Arboretum, Jennie at Love 'n Fresh Flowers, Philadelphia Trolley Works, & Stephen at Day By Day Catering as all of you were exemplary in customer service, pricing, quality, and execution of your services.
-Lindsey, event planner and Granddaughter of Marie Emlen

I'm sure at one time this place was beautiful. Unfortunately now it looks like they need an infusion of cash to fix the place up. Paths are not clearly marked. The wildflower meadow was mowed down. Some beautiful old trees but they need more signs on the trees identifying the varieties.

Four of the best years of our lives were spent in the Awbury carriage house. Loved the people. Wished we could have raised our daughter there. There we found everything we stand for. We adjusted to the Midwest but it was not the same.

Great place to have an event like a wedding or social party. You can also go hiking on the trails here, or sit back and enjoy the scenery. I've done all of the above and had a great experience at each of them.

Everything about our experience with Awbury Arboretum was fantastic. From the original meeting with Branda to the day of our wedding, we were extremely happy with our choice of Awbury for our September reception. We highly recommend this venue if you re looking for a low stress, special and personalized experience. The staff is great, the place is gorgeous, and they did all we needed to make the day easy and enjoyable. No hiccups whatsoever.

One of my favorite hideaways. Located right on the border of Germantown and Mt. Airy. Great place for an outdoor wedding, sneaking away for a toke, or a summer walk with your loved ones.

I guess I'm a bit spoiled having the National Arboretum here in the DC area, which is huge and well organized.

The Awbury is a very nice place, but it's not very well marked for someone from out of town. I suppose if I were part of a tour or event instead of visiting on my own, it would have made a difference
-
This place is wedged in between other homes and public fields and spaces [that are also 'green'] so where one stopped and the other started was a bit confusing.
-
I liked that there were some signs that would say .. 'wet lands' and explain what type of things to find there .. the paths were not designated clearly and I felt I could walk around in circles .. at times I wasn't sure if I was in someone's yard or still on the path.
