We came from st thomas which was affected from two category five hurricanes and we temporarily staying at Pennsylvania. Yesterday we went to our closest neighborhood school, Avon Grove Charter School Early Learning Center to apply our kids to pick up school after a month without it. A lady treated us like trash, she told us that the school couldn't accept us because the school district wouldn't let them take the homeless, even ones that have went through a disaster that led them to that point. She told us that before us she turned down another family with the same situation as us but from Texas, she told us to go to a another school quite far away to enroll. Thank god that the other school took us in with warmth! Now we know that the the charter school lied to us just because we are temporarily staying at Pennsylvania, I think schools should teach kids not only knowledge but the ability to have compassion for their society, the world, and for everyone. Also does this school even consider about Subtitle VII-B of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act?

I was a student at this school, and it was the worst school I had attended. At the end of the year, some teachers decided to scrap finals (which students had been studying hard for) because of how disorganized they were. My history teacher would often misplace tests, essays, homework, etc. because they could not get themselves organized. When I was sick for a month, teachers had tutoring sessions for me at the same time as others. I ended up having to argue with them about scheduling, as they didn't seem to understand that one person can't be at two different places at the same time. Overall, the staff at this school doesn't seem to know what they are doing. Some teachers were excellent, most weren't.

The best charter school in PA. Mr. Ham and Mrs. Bishop are excellent educators who have assisted my daugther in great length. I highly suggest this school to anyone who is a committed learner(student)/or parent. You need to be ready to work hard in this school. Teachers and administration are an amazing group of people, who actually want their students to succeed unlike any previous school my daughter went too. You will not regret this charter school at all. Go for it!!! Thanks Avon Grove Charter School for making it (this school) an excellent choice for a public education!!!

I went to this school for most of my life. I left in seventh grade, sixth grade with HELL. I learned close nothing (in some classes), my favorite teachers either left or where fired. (long live Mr. Cotter) The best part of this school was the micro farm and some teachers. The micro farm I work in the summer because its the best part of the whole school. Also there was a lot of favoritism with students and staff. There was a lot of unfairness to the students. Money was given to none needed things like a giant chair when, were teachers where struggling to give kids simple things like pencils. I do not hate this school because of some of the teachers and staff, I would just like things to change.

Went thier for most of my life. to whoever reads this at the school, good luck. The school is a literal hell hole, thier is more dip then people thier. People screw in the bathroom, teachers overall don't care, bullies run the school and the administration doesn't care, they once fired a teacher for breaking up a fight (long live barber), kid once got stabbed with a pencil and the nurse gave him a band-aid and sent him back to class, nearly everyone thier is a thief. If you do go thier for the love of God DON'T bring anything expensive it will get stolen. teacher once stole $20 from me and I got a dentetion for accusing them. If you have the chance don't go here

I am not sure why people gave AGCS a one star review for having bad lunches. That may be true, but just pack. My experience here has been AMAZING! Sure I'm not good at spelling, but that's about it.

This has been an excellent school for my daughter (4th-7th, currently). The curriculum allows her to grow and learn academically at her own pace (enriched in math and accelerated in language arts) while exploring a variety of arts, environmental science, and other specials.

I was scheduled for an interview at this school for a leadership position, and the HR person told me that she would send me an email confirmation with the time, date and location of the school. I live out of state.

The next day I did not receive a confirmation, so I called and left a voicemail requesting the confirmation. I called again the following day. I assumed that the time and day were still scheduled so I Googled the address and on the day of arrived 30 minutes early to make sure I made it on time. Again, I live in a different state and did not know the area very well. I signed in at the school, and I could immediately tell that the place was in disarray. Dirty, cluttered and students just wandering around. I couldn't tell if class was in or not.

After being made to wait nearly 20 minutes in a nearby office, a woman comes out to me with a smirk on her face and smugly says "You have an interview today? You're in the wrong building. At this rate, you're going to be late."

I told her about the email confirmation that I never received, that I had to look up the address because of it and that I had initially arrived a half hour early to avoid such problems, she walked away and returned 5 minutes later with a printed itinerary of everyone that had an interview that day, still smug as can be. As expected, my name and email were not on it. Only then did she say "Oh" and wiped the look off her face.

I then told her to call HR and tell her that I had made an informed decision and have them cancel my interview. She looked flabbergasted. I probably would have made the interview if I had not been made to wait almost a half an hour for her to figure out what was going on. I left and went home. After I had been home for nearly 45 minutes, FINALLY did I receive an email confirmation for an interview that was over an hour passed. Obviously I declined. If this is the way that they treat their applicants, imagine how they treat their staff, or worse... YOUR children.
