I was a bit out off by some of the previous reviews I read before including the mill on our travel itinerary and I'm glad I trusted my gut! What an incredible place to visit and see the process of wool and weaving in Ireland. There are loads of of signs around to explain what different areas are in the Working mill...no guided tours but it's pretty self explanatory. The key is to remember that this is a working mill or factory if you will and not a tourist excursion. It's really incredible to get this kind of access to a functional workshop.
There is great food in the cafe onsite as well as many other food treats in the shop that you could use to create your own wonderful picnic. Tons of Beautiful blankets, scarves and other gifts for family and friends to take away as well.

Visited shop at Ireland s oldest mill, in Avoca, the land of the meeting of the waters and Ballykissangel. It was very interesting to walk around the mill and watch the men and women at their work and producing fabulous designs. Although quite expensive I would say they would last a life time.

What a lovely place to wander around taking photos. Because of the current restrictions it was closed but for me who s soul intention was to take photos then this was a blessing. Having the place all to myself was fantastic, it was like a little village and ever building was painted white and had red doors and windows, a lovely stream runs through the property, some lovely trees, rest benches and a great wooden wheel. There is excellent parking for both cars and buses, a pic-knick area at the rear and plenty to see and enjoy on a hot summer day. This is usually a major tourist attraction so being all on my own was remarkable. The village of Avoca is really nice and with a trip to this location together makes for a remarkable visit, enjoy

A really fantastic place to visit as it is so full of history and the mill is in such a beautiful setting next to the river. We were part of a tour group and we were able to see the machines being worked and were given a verbal explanation of the mill and its background. There is also a restaurant where you can have a meal or snacks. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

It's is so nice to visit thr original Avoca handweavers where the story began. The old Mill and outbuildings that show the traditions of the woolen mills and now the visitor centre and coffee shop where they make fresh gourmet food that's so delicious. I love Avoca as they are championing great Irish food.

After seeing some knitted goods in stores around Ireland, my wife and daughter decided they had to make a stop here. So we went out of our way and found Avoca Handweavers. A beautiful and historic location with an opportunity to see the process up close, a well stocked factory store and a really good lunch counter. Win, win, win.
