I delivered my son last week at Avista Hospital and can't rave enough about my experience there. Not only is the facility very clean and organized, but their staff is just full of people who really take pride in what they do, starting with the front desk all the way into the New Life Center. There are a couple of staff members who were EXCEPTIONAL. Michele was our nurse when we were getting admitted into the hospital and she was also there for the actual birth of my son. She has a very comforting way about her and really made this process much more comfortable with her calming reassurance and professionalism. This is a person who was meant to be in health care. The lactation specialist, Nicki, was also amazing. When I was very exhausted, stressed and discouraged about my lactation abilities, she brought a very encouraging and enthusiastic approach to things and really changed my perspective. She is just incredible at what she does and I'm thankful she was there. Dr. Huynh was my OB and I've been seen by her for the last 9 months. I've had some struggles throughout the pregnancy and she really made things so much easier for me. I instantly felt comfortable with her and she was born to do what she does. The delivery seemed to go pretty much seamlessly and I can't imagine a better Dr. to have guided me through it.

To top it off, I received a card in the mail yesterday that was personally signed by the staff members that assisted in my delivery and recovery.

Everything that went wrong for my labor and delivery was clearly because my water was unnecessarily broken. I did not want to break my water and the midwife repeatedly pressured me to. And when she did break my water, it was clean and healthy(which means it should not have been broken)My previous birth of my daughter in Australia was smooth sailing and only 4 hours with only my husband and a nurse, giving me space to relax and labor. But my birthing experience at Avista was a grueling 12+ hrs(with at least 4 nurses and the midwife crowding me the entire time!) in which they gave me pitocen (way too much at that) and my son was stuck in the wrong position(because there was no amniotic fluid for him to be able to move into the right position), then after hours of pushing (while the midwife was on her phone most of the birth) the doctor had to turn my baby into the right position and then hours after that the doctor had to suction him out. Then they made us stay days longer than necessary and never let us rest. There was always someone coming in at least every hour to wake us up! Horrible birthing experience!

I fell on the uneven sidewalk outside the hospital. The security guard and visitors were kind and assisted me to the emergency room. The nurses and Dr. treated me like I was a thing. The x-ray tech was kind. I would never return if I had a choice. I am an RN and I would never treat a patient that way.

Went to er and had to stay three days. Everyone from security to doctos were so amazing. They lightened the mood, they were patient, friendly and the bed side manner was unmatched. Cant say enough good things. Thank you for taking such good care of us, Avista!

I was born there! That was cool. Also when I had a really bad asthma attack they took everything seriously and talked me through every procedure which was great since I was a small child at the time.

My second child was born here. She was early and that can be a scary thing. The staff was great and did everything they could to reassure us. I would certainly recommend Avista to anyone in the area.

My husband has needed several procedures & surgeries. What a relief that he can go to Avista, and they treat me well too - just part of the process. EVERYONE we've ever met there has been fabulous - professional, friendly, knowledgeable, experienced, caring, prompt. Have had positive results too. The facility is spotless, easy to get around, well appointed without being overdone.
Did I mention we love the people there?

Went in this morning to get a mammogram. Everyone was very kind and made me feel comfortable. Heather checked me in quickly and thoroughly. Celeste in radiology was particularly wonderful; kind, caring, explained everything she was doing. I appreciated her compassion and gentle technique. It was a good visit with results before I left! Thank you Avista. I have always had a great experience here.

completely incompetent, abusive verbally and physically. nurses and guards BEAT UP my friend who was literally dying becuase of their neglect and incompetence from a TREATABLE disease they took away her medicine for. They beat her up because she was calling the police on them. Do NOT go to this hospital. They also will try and set you up so they can get rid of you after they abuse you by putting you in a nearby criminally run "psych facility" They are in real trouble now.

Was in the ICU 3 times over February and March. The nursing staff was great, the doctors, not so much. Except the cardiologist, she is awesome. But the staff doctors, not so much. The ER nurse the last time - I would give her -5 stars. She was horrible. Food was great.

Before coming here I naively believed that every hospital was interested primarily in patient health, however, some medical care facilities don't care about you unless you're paying.

Disappointing experience with a for profit company that uses Christian biblical quotes on their marketing materials but two of the employees I encountered did not make me feel welcome as Christians should.

What if Jesus had awful indigestion and this is how he was treated?

Awful customer service. I came in around 3am with horrible abdominal cramps which I suspected we're a result of traveling and changing my diet/schedule but the pain was severe enough I wanted to be somewhere safe with a clean restroom while I monitored my condition.

I offered to check in but they said it wasn't necessary unless I actually wanted care, so I got stuck in an emergency room limbo where I was sick, but not currently sick enough to utilize expensive emergency resources, but I was made to feel extremely uncomfortable for simply wanting to hang out in a safe environment.

I explained my situation to the receptionist who was extremely helpful and kind, a nearby nurse also indicated that it was ok for me to sit in the waiting area. After about an hour of sipping tea, attempting to nap, and watching horrible television Kyle, the paunchy, overweight security guard, came into the waiting area and began conversing with the receptionist about me in a manner that was clearly meant for me to overhear since I was sitting nearby.

When she told him to talk to me Kyle sauntered over and began asking me a series of personal questions about my condition. Felt like I was being interrogated. Not satisfied he told me to leave in a half hour or I would be considered loitering.

Half hour goes by while I'm in the restroom. Shortly after returning to the seating area I see Kyle and a different nurse through the doors leading to the patient care area.

I guess Kyle is busy this time, so Bruce the nurse proceeds to approach me, interrogate me about my condition, then proceeds to make a flippant remark about loitering as he walks back through the double doors.

At this point I proceeded to fill out two comment cards and left them with the receptionist who happened to be very understanding and nice throughout the ordeal.

Thankfully, I was feeling better at this point and left.

People are nice, but they have the dumbest business department. Why can;t they do the legal thing and bill the insurance company and then contact a patient rather than make a prediction and not do their job? BBB ranking will go down if I have anything to do with it

My son was born prematurely, so he had to stay in their NICU for a few weeks. The staff was so awesome and helpful. My delivery doctor was very informative and supportive. The cafeteria served really good food. And the delivery rooms were spacious and clean.

New favorite Centura Hospital. Staff was amazing and I really didn't want to leave. Nurses made me super comfortable and happy. Had emergency surgery and found Dr. Spears by chance and she is amazing! Also, great food and menu.

This is the best emergency room ever. I took my kid in at 3 am with an ear infection. She was seen, treated and we were back in the car in 40 minutes. That's crazy fast! Other places you're lucky if your wait time is only 40 minutes.
