Avenza Maps is a total game changer for my trips. I've been using this for forest service trial maps and recreational trail maps. Amazing!!! Would have been totally lost on several trails with out it. Previewing maps is a little hard too see but most maps are free so you can just download then and check em out. Great way to explore new areas and find new trails. Thanks Avenza!!!
Downloaded app to iphone6. Purchased a map that was delivered in 7 sections without any index or other easy way to see what was in each section. The search function did not find locations on the maps so i was reduced to scanning manually thru each map to find the location I wanted. This was a map for the Sierra Mountains in California. Given the non-existent search capability, the product was useless on an iphone.
Avenza is a GIS software developer which makes a stand alone mapping app (Avenza Maps which is available on iOS and Android and is free for personal recreational use) and plug-ins for Adobe Illustrator (Avenza MAPublisher) and Photoshop (Avenza Geographic Imager).
This may be a decent program since the US Forest Service uses it. To me it is absolutely useless. Sure the staff is helpful answering questions. However, you get stuck buying something that you have no idea if it s going to work for you because you can t see a thing in their Preview. It s blurry and even in the other part, I can t remember, maybe it s called excerpts, you ve no idea what you re going to buy! I downloaded a map that didn t have a single regular street name, only county road numbers. I paid for a trail map that didn t have street names of ANY kind on it. Tell me, how the heck are supposed to know where to go to even start? God forbid you come out somewhere different and need to call for a ride. Yeah, just drive down that road, you know, that big road. Yeah, maybe, I don t know. Come down about 15 roads till you have to turn or take a dump, whichever comes sooner. They wanted me to buy a $12 or $15 map that was better than the others. What, I should sign over my paycheck so I can keep searching for the right map?!?! I needed to take that dump so I dumped the app. Sorry guys. I hate posting such a negative review but you really need to get your stuff together.

So, in interpreting your response it is, we take no responsibility for content. We only collect your money and run to the bank with it. Regarding your low-res comment, have you ever tried using it? You must be joking saying so we can see if it s for our intended use. Better you d have said nothing.
Serious issue with purchase option. I have tried multiple time to purchase and have been unable to. Google account info is fine but Avenza purchase option is not recognizing my account.
I find it very strange and interesting that the USFS decided to put maps only available on this app and not any of the highly used and downloaded mainstream apps. There must be some inside deal with kick backs.
The app is listed as incompatible with both my android devices, so it looks like I am stuck with a paper map as I will not join the apple cult.
