I have been a client since 2008, back when the organization was called Houston Area Community Services (HACS). My doctor is exceptional, and I wish him nothing but the best. In the early days, the front office was efficiently run by one person, Daisy, who managed everything superbly. I miss her dearly.
When HACS expanded and moved into a larger space, they hired more staff for the front desk. While they were good at getting patients signed in, they struggled to answer calls promptly. After HACS rebranded to Avenue 360, the staff size increased, but the issue with phone responsiveness persisted. The staff began acting as gatekeepers, failing to relay messages to the appropriate medical professionals.
There seems to be no contingency plan for scenarios that affect clients or patients. On June 25, 2024, I received a call informing me that the Fannin St. Midtown clinic would be closed for my scheduled appointment on June 26, 2024. This is highly disruptive for those who rely on medical transportation, which requires scheduling 48 hours in advance. The burden was placed on the patient to rearrange scheduling, which is beyond their control.
This added to my stress when I used the Ave 360 Lyft ride program to pick up a BiPAP machine, a 27-mile trip each way. Although I arrived on time for training, the return driver went to the wrong building. I couldn't contact the driver to correct the error, and they canceled my ride. I had to attempt to resend the request, only to be told to have Ave 360 reorder the ride home.
I was patched through an answering service four times, each time being directed to leave a voice message. Despite explaining the situation, I was told they couldn't find anyone to help me and could only patch me through to the appropriate department. It seems no one answers the phones at Ave 360 except for those who claim they do not work in the building.
The management of Avenue 360 has run this once-great organization into the ground, focusing solely on business operations, and poorly at that. While the organization has wonderful doctors, that is the only positive aspect remaining.
