Fall 2018, Mom had to go to a rehab facility due to major back surgery. It was rough, in fact so bad that I did "break" Mom out! On that day, as I was pulling away from that place with Mom, we both said .... thank you Lord for getting us out of there!
Due to last time, I was extremely anxious about Mom going into another rehab facility.
This time we chose Autumn Care, a facility that I have heard a few negative comments, yet more than triple in good comments.
Unfortunately, Mom's first 10 minutes was not good due to one nurse. Yet, Autumn Care did take care of the issue by moving Mom immediately off that nurse's hall. The first nurse was reported and we were assured that the nurse's actions were not approved of and would be handled. Why would I mention the first 10 minutes? I believe it is important to highlight the fact that the issue with the nurse was taken care of right away without me having to make a huge fuss.
Mom's care for the remaining time was wonderful!! Nurses and staff were polite, attentive and happy. The facility was clean, bright, smelled good and everyone greeted you. Mom even said that the food was good!
In Mom s wing/hall, we noticed that all staff was very gentle with their words, tone and actions with each and every patient/resident.
When you walked into the main hallway from the front door, posted on the wall are pictures, with name listed and what division they were the manager of. Transparency!! You did not have to ask the name of the director of nursing. It was up there for all to see.
The day that Mom was leaving, nursing staff hugged her. One of the directors came out of her office and "helped" us load up. As we were pulling off, Mom stopped me, because here comes jogging out the door, an employee from the business office. She came to say goodbye.
I am extremely thankful that Autumn Care was so great to Mom and our family. After last fall, we NEEDED a great place for Mom to heal and gather her strength.
