I presented a problem I was having with a piece of gear and they went out of their way to send me a demo unit to try out. I was impressed with the quality of product but more importantly I was impressed with the quality of service. I would definitely recommend them to someone else.
AVE installed an audio and video system in our church in 2006. Overall the audio works well and sounds great. The big issue we had was with the video system and the service we received from AVE. In the first 2 years we had each tweeter on our 3 main speakers fail. They were under warranty, however, AVE still charged us for their time to replace them. The first one we obviously had an inexperienced tech because it took 7 hours, of which they billed us the full 7 hours for. The second and third time it only took 1 hour to replace the tweeter. It doesn't seem right to have to pay for 6 hours of incompetence on their part.
There was another situation where we weren't able to use our wireless mics on the stage because they would lose connectivity. After many hours of troubleshooting and paying a couple thousand more in labor and very expensive antennas we went straight to the manufacturer of the mics (Audio Technica, great technical support on their part) and they sent a tech out who was able to fix the issue in a matter of minutes by showing us a transmit power option on each mic. Again, it is sad that we paid all of those thousands of dollars to AVE for their incompetence.
The video system has been glitchy since the day it was installed. It is a 2 projector Barco BlendPro system. The system freezes on a regular basis and we have to restart the control board. There are various other minor/major issues that we tried to have fixed, however, we couldn't afford to keep paying AVE to come out and not have the problem resolved.
Overall I am very disappointed in the service that AVE provided. While they installed a high quality product, and the audio system does sound very nice and is easy to operate, the extra charges and the incompetence and poor attitude of some of their personnel is inexcusable in my opinion. There are some very nice and knowledgeable people that work there that take the time to do things right, but they seem to be the minority unfortunately.
