I attended Aston for 9 months and it had been a bad experience. It was a big mistake to choose this uni as I believed the TEF gold ranking was really good to study Mech Eng, not to mention it almost killed my future after doing the 1st year. The support I got was dreadful and a lot of the EAS staff didn't take consideration for the fact that everyone came from different educational backgrounds. Also the support I got from other students on the course was terrible.

Aston was a depressing place to be in as a student and so was B'ham. It was so boring as I hardly knew anyone and I was mainly alone in the halls. 2 flatmates were hardly around!! Unite Students Aston was an absolute joke!!

The social life was bad as well. If you want a uni with good social life and support (teaching, peer support etc.), you're better off going somewhere else rather than Aston.

The uni only cares about money and business, not about treating people and they do not understand that this is a burden on students (and parents)! Forget recommending this uni to someone else.

We were walking around the University, and we arrived at a park where there was a fountain and many geese that approached us peacefully. A pity that it started to rain and we had to leave right away.

I am from India and 5 years ago I had graduated from Aston. I did my MSc. in International Business from here. The campus is great and so is the faculty. However the situation as far as jobs are concerned and the visa is concerned are very bad all across the UK for international students from Asian countries especially. We got 3 months after the course was over on our visa to try and get a job. The careers cell tried to help but no help can get you a job in that short amount of time. Also once you achieve such a good degree you don't want to be working at a Tesco. Great education but if you can't apply it why go there. Try universities in Canada there is more scope.

Advertised as "4-star," but more like a pleasant 3. Beds are two twins pushed together and weren't very comfortable, nor were the thin pillows. Rooms are small but not cramped. Staff were friendly. Students outside were noisy past 3:00. Now get off my lawn.

I enjoyed my Uni days at Aston as I made real friends and loved the green campus. However, there were racist staff in the School of Life and Health Sciences and they constantly made comments that degraded international students. If you are a non-eu student, do not attend Aston University as there are other universities in Birmingham that are more welcoming.

Had a skype interview after selection with a so called Pharmacy course selector/ lecturer Raj Badhan. This guy had an attitude and didnt reply for the time the interview was arranged. I then replied with a day and time he said he was free. On the interview day I reminded him via email and he he had forgotten there was even an interview that day. He never even knew the time the interview was. Such a non professional and careless attitude of Raj Badhan who is supposed to be the head or whatever of Pharmacy department. I thought Aston was one of the best unis in UK, however with such faculty I can understand the bashing this uni has received from other comments here

Came here on a clearing and I can definitely say this is a pretty bad university. The social life is pretty good and I made some amazing friends however the education (which is what I really came here for) is a different story. You will get lecturing that is definately not even sub standard and passionate and if you do a placement year they will not give a dam about helping you if you are doing biomedical engineering. Also there is only really one building where lectures take place that looks worse for wear and quit depressive to be honest (not ideal for a learning environment). Also the facilities are just awful. I mean I can remember going around universities and seeing amazing things they had to offer such as electron microscopes. Here they had worse resouses than my small secondary school and for a uni you pay 9k for pretty embarising if you ask me. If you end up getting something like clearing here don't be like me and rush into it. Its definately worth repeating the year to get the grades for a better university or just go out and get a job

Aston University has a good reputation in Business and the university provides an excellent teaching quality for their students. Indeed, the university is located near city centre, therefore it is convenient for those students to have a rest after the end of the classes.

I visited Aston University for 3 months and I really enjoyed it. The people are very nice and friendly. It has an international atmosphere. Lecturers are very good. The campus is beautiful, especially the lake and the birds. The location of university is great, it's close to city centre.

Very good standard university, mostly friendly and helpful lecturers and staff, a lot of resources (computers etc) available for students (some of the lecture rooms have tables with plugs to charge your phone and cupholders). Great location as it is right next to the city centre for all your shopping and other needs.

Edit - (2 years after my initial review above) Docked two stars for the way they treat Graduates especially the Engineering department. Graduates are treated as commodities and not as Alumni who need help and support/guidance from the University, whether that would be for things like help to get Graduate work, important paperwork or further study support/materials etc. It s a disgrace that such a high standard University shafts their Alumni this way, passing them through loops up to three years since Graduation. Then after three years since Graduation the Graduates are left on their own. Other Universities support their Grads for many years, some even for Life.
Just incase some might misinterpret this edit as a rant , no it is informing you to be prepared for life after Graduation and the unfortunate worst of what to expect from Aston.

First of all, no manner in treating candidates after the hiring interview which was organized by HR. They announced "pass or not will be told next Monday". However it was nothing, which means HR does not function at all.
It was not private job interview organized by labs. This was the No.1 worst experience during my jobseeking. haha

Racist university with racist and irresponsible lecturers. My biggest mistake of life was coming to this university believing the national ranking. Forget about recommending to someone, if anybody I know wants to have admission to this university, I will stop that person as strongly as I can.

Not one drink for someone on a diet or diabetic in their machines apart from water. Absolutely all foods offered in their machines are full of saturated fats either/or sugar. That is the reason as most of their students are overweight!
It is horrifying - no nutrition whatsoever. I talked to some of the professors and tutors they states they are not responsible!!!!! They. Could not tell me who were responsible!!!
Unbelievable the right place for Type 2 Diabetes, cardiovascular disease etc.
If you would like to be health go to other university or it will be your chance to start a long term condition!!!!

One of the academic support works here is very inconsiderate & unprofessional a blonde/red haired youngish female spoke in a disgusting manner in rage reply to a student who was disabled. Just because lacked patience to wait for her to exit the room we was in. Someone called her name outside the room Kirsten or kirst either way appalling.

Aston University offers modern facilities and an airy campus in the centre of Birmingham.

The traffic pollution is almost diffused towards the centre of the triangular shaped campus. Canada geese wander the grounds and I have seen a new generation raised over the course of a year.

It has an adequate library and great onsite gym facilities with pool.

The courses offered are niche therefore the university rankings should be taken with this in mind.

One negative is the lack of thought with the entrances, some doors are locked with little gain as the other half of the doors are open and unmanned.

It has great infrastructure and a good feel, I look forward to seeing it's ongoing development.

Reply rate and feedback from professors at this University is close to zero. If you are interested in good education with feedback on your hands-ins, I wouldn't recommend studying here at all.

Takes Covid-19 restrictions very seriously. Unfortunately, you do have to sometimes walk down long corridors and open about 15 doors to get to your session (depending on which floor you are.) and touching so many door handles is very dangerous in terms of Covid. But cleaners can be seen around the corridors on a regular basis.

The IT section is most disorganised ever witnessed they don,t know their elbow from their backside, says it all when the apprentices are the most knowledgeable there . Stephen Colden in particular is a lowlife gutless creep.Management seems to be lead by group of lowlife two faced no-marks such as Faizal . Feel bad for the good guys there which can only count on few fingers......Absolutely pathetic . Stay well clear accepting a job with the IT department there

Aston is an excellent institution to do your studies. Location of the university is fantastic
as its 10 minute walk to the city centre. The teaching is excellent and the lecturers are very
kind and helpful. They also help you find a placement if you choose to do one (mandatory for business courses).

The university provides students with lots of facilities and support, staff are friendly. Overall you get all you would need during your study here. I took one star away because in my opinion international fees compared to the course quality and other universities is fairly high (for medicine).

I completed my Masters degree here - to be honest, for an MSc degree, the majority of the course content was VERY basic (I remember learning some of the same things at GCSE and A-Level back in school) and the assignments were too easy... I can't speak for everyone but I genuinely don't think that the courses are worth the money! Campus and location wise are great - everything is essentially taught in one building so you don't have to walk from one side of town to another. The city centre is right on the doorstep of the university too which is super convenient!

Guys do not go to this university,It's a money making thing. Their professors are not getting held accountable for leaking exams instead university penalize students by forcing them to repeat the year. university Dean does not understand the financial burden on students. It just happened to my family member recently. What a shame I request all the students to go to a legal help. Approach immigration Canada and make them aware of this fraud

Some great facilities but can be difficult to find your way around and one of our party was a wheelchair user who didn't want to have to sit right at the front of the lectures simply because the auditorium seats were only accessible by steps.
