Asgard Hotel Review

I stayed at the Asgard a few years ago. Good value, great service, close to everything in Groningen. And most importantly, very close to the train station!

A good idea, we got a room that did not look like the rooms in the photo with a filthy floor and walls. It smelled there (smell of sweat) and the room was not clean. Shower ran over. The second room we were given was not clean and needed a makeover. The hotel is nicely central and in a quiet street.

The hotel combines its original architectural style with trendy and innovative interior. The rooms are spacious, cosy and comfortable; the WIFI works very well and all the guest accessory are bio and environmentally friendly. The breakfast is simple, but all the fod is organic. The staff is helpful and friendly.

Nice hotel, with nice decoration and great location.Staff really friendly. Though I should mention that eventually we've found a bottle of wine that wasn't ours under the bed. And that's kinda bad...!

So me and my girlfriend wanted to check in there, first impression, very close to the train station so you think okay, great .. the other reviews online indicate it would be very good and fabulous
When we arrive at 12.50 p.m. we are told that the rooms will be cleaned and that we can leave our luggage there and check in at 3 p.m.
So accepted we went into town and came back, checked in, we took a standard double room .. the room was not at all as advertised on the internet
The room was just small and uncomfortable, the TV is the size of my tray - no minibar or anything like that,
Blood stains between the bed- what a double bed should be ..

Not at all to understand what the positive reviews are supposed to be ... I honestly recommend you pay 10-20 more, go a little more in the city center and take a better hotel

The only positive thing is the lady at the front desk who said we can change rooms but the other rooms would be just as small ... get money back.

Good beds, spacious and clean room, near the center and quiet. The parking spaces are a 2-minute walk away. It is also within walking distance of the station.

Cozy hotel for a reasonable price. In a quiet place. To the center 5 minutes walk. Railway station in 3 minutes on foot.

Good location. The family room we were given was huge. Comfortable beds. Large bathroom. Nice and helpful staff. However, the breakfast was not tested. A little to complain about was just the air conditioning, it didn't blow as cold as you'd hoped (when it was so hot and humid during the time we were there this summer).

We didnt have a place for our luggage, so we asked from this hotel if we could rent a spot from their luggage room. They said we could leave them behind the deal for free. Super friendly deal clerks. About the rooms I have no experience, we just left our bags there for the day.

Excellent. Very hospitable, caring and good staff. I have slept here twice but the standard is befitting.

Renovated hotel, looks fresh, good beds and sanitary in new condition. Great breakfast. Arrival route from the highway is short with good parking

For a luxury room, it was very disappointing. There wasn't even a refrigerator. And the heating was also very disappointing. Not recommended to others for me. I'm not going there anymore. In contrast, the reception was very good.

Beautiful rooms, super friendly and helpful staff. Was first visit, but more will surely follow. Hotel is located against the center and is easily accessible by car.

Cute little hotel and cost-effective, too. Beware that the hotel does not have a 24-hour service. So if you want to check in after 10pm, there is nobody at the front desk and you will only get in if you arrange with the hotel ahead of time to have the room and key for you ready and receive a code for the front door. The room was neat but Spartan and I struggled to turn the heat up at night. Overall, I was happy, I got what I bargained for, but it's surely not a hotel for the luxury traveler.

Just a quick night stay here as it was close to station. Didn't like the fact that reception is not 24 hours (closes at 10pm) and I had hard time getting in after that and heater in the room was not working. However, has an OK breakfast and modern rooms.

Nice design hotel. Spacious rooms and a nice bathroom. A bit noisy if you sleep in front of the building.

Very very nice hotel. The rooms are super finished and all the things in the bathroom are from Rituals. Organic breakfast is of very good quality. Employees incredibly friendly and nice informal atmosphere. The only, but really only downside is that the TV in the rooms is a bit small and hard to see from the bed.

Very centrally located, great for a city tour. Parking in the hotel and breakfast at 16.50 a bit expensive. Breakfast is delicious, with organic products, but not the largest selection. Rooms were renovated a few years ago, but the building is very old, which you can see / notice. For the high price we expected a little more, but it was ok for a couple of nights.

Nice modern hotel. Friendly staff. The luxury room was really comfortable. Wonderful beds, coffee and tea in the room. The shower and bath were separate which I really liked. All in all I enjoyed the peace and luxury.

Great and fast service when booking, very pleasant contact. Reception was very friendly. We had room 17 and I must say: for a 3-star hotel, rarely had such a spacious and spacious room.

Decor in a bit of a raw natural style with a lot of untreated wood. Bathroom was also fine with all the amenities you could want including hairdryer and shaving mirror. The bed was very comfortable and three types of pillows are offered, so there is a suitable one for everyone: you will sleep well here! Storage options were also spacious.

We arrived in a week when it was 35 degrees outside and were pleasantly surprised that the air conditioning was already on when we entered the room. So immediately comfortable! What also immediately stood out was how terribly neat and clean the room and bathroom were, everything was "spotless"!

Our room had a small balcony with 2 chairs and a table overlooking a courtyard (surrounded by student rooms, but not bothered by that). So it was fine to get some fresh air in the evening from the room.

Hotel offers fresh fruit at the bar that you can grab free of when you go out, I keep finding that thoughtful wherever I go. For smokers there is an easily accessible courtyard with a number of tables, chairs and a lounge sofa, which also felt welcoming.

The location of the hotel is fantastic: outside the busy city center (it was actually quiet at night), just 100 meters from the street and you are in the middle of Groningen.

Loved it and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Had a great experience at the Ascard while in Groningen for work in March of 2012. Beautiful rooms, nice interior design layouts throughout, and very nice staff.

My only complaint was, at the time we were staying, the elevator was out of operation due to construction, and it was a pretty good workout going up and down those stairs, especially since we stayed on the top floors. Other than that, it was a beautiful experience.

Plus points: nice bed ... nice bathroom (no bath) ... there is a Rituals soap and body lotion and shampoo available, so no cheap hotel soaps that do not foam or smell good. What a luxury this was haha

The only downside I found was the small TV that is so high that you need a magnifying glass to see things. ( in a manner of )

This is a modern clean place. The rooms are dominated by modern wooden style. The location is perfect for city trips, everything is in walking distance. The staff was nice and polite.
There is absolutely nothing negative to say!

Very nice small hotel in the Groningen city center. Kind staff. Excellent breakfast.

Right in the city center, room was good although it could use some maintaince. The shower water pressure was to low. Price vs quality I thought it was overpriced.

Clean and serene. Spacious feeling, clean room. Good bed! And as icing on the cake of course a bathtub overlooking the middle of the room.

Nice rooms. Attention to products in the breakfast and attention of the staff. Unique concept.

Very central, very stylish, no parking spaces, a bit expensive but overall good and worth the money.
