My daughter was heading down the wrong path in her middle school. She felt alone, like an outsider, bullied. I found this school and within the first week I could see a huge change in her emotions, her confidence went through roof. she's No longer the outsider just trying to make it through the day. she's a student looking forward school next week. She comes home smiling not crying anymore. We love this school its a real high school, where you can be who you are and not bullied for it. Thanks AAW for giving me my baby back.

I recommend this school. This school saved my life. The school community is diverse and welcoming. I appreciate all the kind and wonderful staff. I love the fact that I could use my preferred name when the last school I was in shunned me for it.
I think the school needs to be funded more so we have better equipment but over all it is wonderful and I appreciate coming here everyday. I don't fear going to school anymore.

I wish they taught diversity and inclusion instead of tolerance. Tolerance is so 50''s and needed at the time, but I would like to think in the 2020's we are well beyond this way of thinking. On a very positive note, I must say that the winter concert was amazing!

To start things off the doors of the school are not locked, any person off the street could simply walk in the school at any tine. There are no security cameras throughout the school either. The staff especially the principal are horrible. An aquaintance of mine was forced by another student to perform oral sex in a hallway. Although she did report the incident the principal did little to punish the offending student and also punished the victim. Not only did he treat the situation inappropriately, but he joked about the fact that it happened and doubted the situations legitimacy due to the offending students reputation. Arts Academy In The Woods is an overall unsafe place with disgusting, immature, and unprofessional staff. I fear for my friends that attend this school and would urge anyone enrolling to find another option.

The staff at this school makes this more a political indoctrination institution than educational institution. Daily they push their liberal agenda down to the students. The students respond by joining in on the one sided discussion. I do not recommend this school for any children that have been raised as free and objective thinkers.

This is my daughter's 3rd year. The teachers are the reason she loves it so much. She has excelled in visual arts because of Mrs. Bernards dedication to the students. We can't say enough about ALL the teachers at AAW. Excellent staff! Although my daughter can go to school anywhere, we drive 45 miles one way and it's so worth it.

As a free public high school, chartered by the Macomb Intermediate School District, Arts Academy in the Woods is open to any student who has a passion for the arts.

At Arts Academy in the Woods, we believe that every student has something special to offer and we strive to provide an environment where they can develop their skills and talents. Our faculty consists of experienced educators who are passionate about teaching and committed to helping each student reach their full potential. They work closely with our students, providing individualized attention and support as needed.

One of the unique features of Arts Academy in the Woods is our focus on interdisciplinary learning. By incorporating art into these subjects, we help our students develop critical thinking skills while also fostering creativity.

In addition to our academic program, Arts Academy in the Woods offers a wide range of extracurricular activities for students who want to further explore their artistic interests. We have programs in visual arts, music, theater, dance, creative writing and more.

Our facilities are state-of-the-art with specialized classrooms equipped with everything needed for each discipline taught at our academy. Our campus includes studios for painting/drawing/sculpture/ceramics/printmaking/photography/film-making; music rooms equipped with pianos/drums/guitars/bass guitars/violins/violas/cellos; black box theater; dance studio; computer lab equipped with Adobe Creative Suite software; library/media center stocked with books/DVDs/CDs/magazines/newspapers/journals/e-books/audio-books/podcasts/videos/documentaries etc.; science labs fully equipped for biology/chemistry/physics classes etc.; language lab equipped with Rosetta Stone software etc.; gymnasium/sports fields/outdoor spaces etc.

We understand that not every student will pursue a career as an artist but we believe that exposure to art education will benefit them regardless of what path they choose after graduation from high school or college/university studies later on down life's journey. The skills learned through studying art such as problem-solving abilities/imagination/time-management/teamwork/self-expression/confidence/public speaking/presentation skills/etc., are transferable across many different fields including business/law/engineering/science/etc., making it valuable knowledge no matter what career path one chooses later on down life's journey.

At Arts Academy in the Woods we take pride in being able to offer this unique educational experience free-of-charge thanks largely due generous donations from individuals/businesses/grants/foundations/etc., which allow us continue offering this exceptional educational opportunity year after year without charging tuition fees or requiring any other financial contributions from families/students enrolled at our academy.
