Apex makes a quality product, I am happy with the structure. I am extreamly happy with my builder, Fox Run Homes and Elmer Reed or contractor.
Poor communication and quality control with the designer and specifications, I had to be my own advocate with all details and still my own error with a wall cabinet was not communicated to me before my home was on the line, I am not a builder just a customer that knew what I wanted. It was extremely hard to follow up with anyone, they were always on the other line or with a customer. I had to resort to email for a paper trail of my communication with anyone.
Apex assembly line factory builders for each room need more experience with details such as bathroom and kitchen cabinet installs, my master bath cabinet doors are not level with each other. My Shower is not square as a result I can not get the designer glass I want installed until I have the shower tile walls at the frame taken out and reinstalled. It takes 6 weeks to get the tile and to this day I still don't have a Master Shower, this is July 18th, 2016 we occupied the house November 2015. My second bathroom fiberglass shower is cracked.
I would not recomend Apex Homes. I gave them 3 stars because I had a wonderful builder in Fox Run Homes, Elmer Reed/Contractor. No matter what the issue was he corrected it. Apex is reimbursing us for the tile error which is great but the time, stress and headaches we encountered in the process I want future home builders to be aware of before and while hiring and /or working with Apex Homes. Also, I completely understand nothing is perfect when building a home, my best advise is to be your own advocate and pay close attention to all details on your specifications and final walk.

Working with the team at Apex Homes has been a pleasure. Everyone we have worked with has been highly responsive, detail oriented, client-centric and they stand behind their product. I highly recommend working with Apex Homes.

I am posting this review here as Apex was our home manufacturer. We did get more response from Apex than our builder - however we are still struggling with the flooring that was installed. It has bubbles, nail pops throughout the home and many areas where the sub floor seems to have never been nailed down at all (And this is after they came to 'fix' it). This is the review I left on our builder's page - but I am unsure who is responsible for what as fingers were pointed at each other the entire time. I also want to give credit to the fact that when our fire place did not work - after multiple calls and a report to our State Board of Manufactured House, Apex issued a check to cover the cost of our fireplace - and because of this, I give 2 stars rather than 1.

LEFT REVIEW ON: COASTLINE HOMES OF MAINE dba SCHIAVI. I would agree with some of the other reviews. If I was to post a detailed review, it would take PAGES. We were sold hook, line and sinker by Kristin Jones who is abundantly friendly up front - but, rude and unprofessional when you question the finished product and the lack of quality provided. Once the contract was signed, the lack of communication began. The turnover at Coastline/Schiavi should have been a red flag in itself. We attempted to address our concerns with them directly, but it was a new site manager, new project manager so frequently no one ever had an answer. Multiple site visits were made (which meant time away from work for us) and no solution was found. Many decisions were made that impacted our end product without a conversation with us. We eventually asked the state to come in and do a full inspection because we were (and still are) continuously having trouble with excavation, craftsmanship of our home and various components that do not work. We learned from the state that no complaint is made public if Coastline dba Schiavi (or any modular builder) takes care of the problem in the allowed time. In our case, the 45 days allowed by the state (once they issued their letter indicating the found issues) came and went and we still were just 'discussing' a potential solution. Coastline blamed Apex, Apex blamed Coastline - we didn't care who was at fault, we just wanted the home we paid for. The complaint is now public and Coastline/Schiavi was fined a whopping $100 - no wonder they didn't care about the 45 days! I would be happy to share our entire story with anyone considering giving money to these folks. Do your homework, visit completed homes off the lot - not the references they provide as I'm sure they have a handful of happy customers. As we began sharing our story, we discovered MANY others who had equivalent experiences/trouble with Coastline / Schiavi. Please pay attention to finish work (the craftsmanship just isn't there), get other opinions on your excavation (our elevation changes were SUBSTANTIAL), make sure the concrete company is using new forms (we did end up with a discount for this, but a discount doesn't change what we have forever), honestly the list goes on and on - most importantly: GET EVERY SINGLE DETAIL, EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE IN WRITING. We had requested to speak directly with the President of Schiavi in hopes that we could share our experience with him - if nothing else - in hopes that it would help prevent this from happening to others (if he wasn't aware). He had no interest in meeting with us was the response we got. Truly unfortunate! We spent over a quarter of a million dollars on our forever home - we deserved, at the very least, a phone call. We are devastated that we chose Coastline/Schiavi to build our forever home. We built on family land that we will never sell and are stuck with a sub-par finished product. Please reach out to me if you have questions - jillian.callan@gmail.com. I am sure that Coastline/Schiavi will have a well-crafted response to this review, but I encourage you to do a LOT of homework. All companies have some negative reviews - but, I urge you to pay attention to the consistency in these.

My review of the Apex builder below says volumes about the integrity of Apex Homes of PA as they apparently condone this type of behavior from their authorized builders because Apex Homes of PA is refusing to sell me a house.
"I have to say that anyone dealing with this business should do their homework first!! I have supporting documentation to any of my claims in this review. Our story started late last fall while shopping for a new custom home. We met with Kristin at Coastline who was sweet as pie to us while at the same time down talking all the other modular home dealers in the area. We decided we wanted to proceed with designing our Apex home and paid a $2500 deposit the we were told and have in writing that it was refundable. We went through the plan design process and then at the last minute before ordering the home Kristin sprung on us that they require a 50% down payment and the other 50% is due the day before the house is set on the foundation. First, it is illegal in the State of ME to require more than a third down without disclosing that fact to the consumer. And second, who in their right mind would pay 100% for an unfinished house. Kristen told us that it is standard practice to collect 100% up front and all other dealers follow this same business model which is an outright lie! We have since found several other dealers that do not follow this business model. Several discussions later Coastline backed off of the payment schedule but then sent us a Non-Negotiable and I repeat Non-Negotiable unfair and unrealistic contract to sign. One of the items on the contract stated that they would try not to crack our foundation but would not be responsible if they did. Are you kidding me!! We decided that Coastline Homes of Oxford was not for us and informed Kristin of our decision. We asked for a partial return of our Refundable deposit, understanding plans were drawn and the line item for them was $1500. Well it turns out that they will not give us back any of our refundable deposit. There are deceptive business practices all through the experience with Kristin at Coastline. We have since found out that Coastline Homes of Oxford is a DBA company of Schiavi Homes, LLC. With a little more research, we learned that Schiavi Homes, LLC had their Better Business Bureau rating revoked by the BBB for failure to address customer complaints. Unfortunately, our story does not end here. We found another modular home dealer and approached him about getting us the same home we had designed. As far as we are concerned, we now own the plans to our home as they were paid for with our Refundable deposit that was never returned. Our new dealer was also an authorized Apex builder was allowed by Apex to order the home. Kristin from Coastline Homes of Oxford found out that Apex was moving forward with our home through another dealer and did everything she could to block the sale, well it turned out that Apex did remove our order from their books. This was an extremely childish act on behalf of Coastline Homes of Oxford. Like I said, BUYER BEWARE, this business is clouded with lies and deceit."
