I was a former client of this group. I found them to be smooth-talking, insincere and extremely self-serving, operating primarily in their own economic interests. The well-being of my investment portfolio was secondary to their bottom line. With their advice, I liquidated a large amount of stock to put funds in an oil investment. They claimed the tax penalties related to the stock sales would be offset by the oil investment write-offs. This was not the case and my tax liabilities were horrendous. On another occasion, I agreed to move a large amount (20m) into an investment they tabled and recommended. This holding turned out to be an alternate investment, not publicly traded, and whose value was not generally available to routinely check on. They stated that it was an in-house mutual-type fund whose composition was periodically modified by an AOG team based upon market performance. Details of this investment build were not available to analyze. To my chagrin, I later found out that two subsequent purchases of even larger amounts were purchased for my portfolio without my express permission. This was the straw that ruptured our business relationship. Caveat emptor
