Good ferry service for the islands. We only went to Isla Desierto to enjoy the paradisiacal beach all day in a quiet plan. It takes 45 min. per way and are 10 round trip. The ferry is just that, ferry to communicate the islands. On the way you can see part of the Ria de Formosa and you can get an idea of how it is and its vegetation.
They promise a hop-on-hop-off service. However, the boats only sail once every 1-2 hours. So not really hop-on-hop-off service.
Furthermore, the sailer told us he would pick us up 5pm at Culatra. He did not show up. After we called the company they said we were wrong. After another call they finally send an extra boat.
Extreme disappointment. The last boat from Farol simply did not show up; forcing us to spend the night on the island. When confronted they were bitterly rude, offered no apologies or compensation. Solution: just take the direct ferries as the locals do.
Poor boat access from the pier
Extremely dangerous for those who have to carry children
I will never repeat the experience
It's worth the shutter ride because the ferry is soooo slow!
A week ago we made the excursion they offer to visit the 3 islands (which are actually 2, because there are two of them that become united) Farol and Culatra, and Ilha Deserta (which are the only company that goes to this island , which is almost paradisiacal) by speedboat, with the possibility of getting off on the island you want and then changing islands with various schedules throughout the day. In our case we had no problem with the boat's schedules and services, since the boat's driver warned us of everything well, where we should go to catch the boat again, that we be careful with the schedules, especially with the last hours which is when most people concentrate on the docks, etc. There are always people who do not listen, or who go their own way and then pretend that they give them all the services they want, but the truth is that they repeat all the schedules and the way of acting several times. As an excursion to know the great area. And if you can, I would recommend getting used to the idea of spending the whole day, to make the most of your time on each of the islands.
Boat trip of 30 taken and not too bad. Very good guides, biologists by training, who talk passionately about the nature reserve and bring you as close as possible to the birds.
The island is beautiful, beautiful hiking trail, just the litter here and there is an eyesore.
We did the nature boat trip to ilha deserta and paid 30 Euro. Definitely worth it! The guides were really friendly and told us everything about the animals we saw on the way. They were even able to translate the name of every animal in different languages, also in German. They showed us how to fish for claims and also the different types one finds in Faro. The nature was beautiful and we enjoyed the time on the boat and also on ilha deserta. The trip on the speed boat on the way back was also very exciting. Great trip!
Very nice eco-tour to Ilha Deserta done with the guides Thomas and Christina. They gave a nice explanation about nature in Ria Formosa. Our son was even allowed to steer the rib boat in a quick lap at the end. clear explanation at the end to come back by ferry at the end of the afternoon
Expensive, but you get back what you pay for with quality service
Used them quite a bit.....and got the speedboat to ilha deserta... worth it as it was great fun..... 20 each return.
Going to another island with them tomorrow....cant fault them at all
We only had the snack bar food and drink but it's relaxed and perfectly positioned.
Sells you ticket full price without telling you it will be 1h late
