I accidentally overpaid this company by $336.30. I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to get through their automated phone system to speak with a real person. I finally reached customer service and was transferred to a client manager. I was told overpayments happen frequently and often go unnoticed by the patient.
IF a patient becomes aware of an overpayment and contacts the company, they can expect a refund in an average of 60-90 days from when the company becomes aware of the overpayment. That is actually long after they have deposited your check. I was told that NO ONE CAN EVER RECEIVE A REFUND in less 60-90 days. I was also told that refund checks are sometimes returned because they take so long to process that people have moved or have died before their refund is sent. If a check is returned the money is held by the company.
I have since researched complaints and legal issues regarding ABC and discovered they have a very poor ratings across most areas and were under federal investigation for fraud in 2015. I can t help but wonder if there is adequate external oversight of their current billing and refund (or lack there of) practices.
Customer service representatives describe a toxic work environment. They are overworked and underpaid and powerless, by company design. They are taught to be polite, and to transfer and hang up on callers. There is nothing else they have the knowledge, training, or power to do. NOTHING! A horrible company and a horrible experience!!!
