What a great experience we had eating dinner here!...

What a great experience we had eating dinner here! Had the file and it was easily the best steak I've ever had. The atmosphere and service was spot on. Definitely a hidden gem for Vicksburg. The place was packed.

We had a fabulous dinner last night at Cafe Anchuca!! You will not be disappointed! Even though there was a hurricane headed our way, they were open and very happy to see us. The food was phenomenal!!! I had the filet and shrimp and grits both were delicious. The best part was the filet was so tender you could cut it with a fork!! Thanks to the staff for a wonderful night.

I really enjoyed this. The foid5, pork, was delicious. The gentleman that came by the table was very very nice and professional. The courtyard was beautiful and the cats outside in the front were gorgeous and very sweet. I was with my Mother, my brother and his family. The bread pudding was delicious. I enjoyed eating from my mother's house what I could not finish at the restaurant. The coffee I remember was very good it didn't taste as coffee here. I do recommend this place.

Gorgeous house, incredibly well renovated. The owner is a renowned interior decorator and you can feel it in every detail, piece of furniture, knick knack or painting... Even though the accomodations are modern (showers and wifi included ) you can feel like you have stepped back in time in a 19th century city mansion. We stayed in the Davis suite. Breakfast was excellent and we also had our dinner there which was great. We would love to stay there again.

Was here for brunch and dinner! Wonderful menu and delicious choices ! My only complaint was a house keeping issue. Chairs in dining room had thick layer of dust and on the bottom rungs! Loved the food and will go back again. Just step up the cleaning.

Visit for Sunday brunch. The food selection was more lunch than brunch, but everything was very good. I had a pot roast that was slow cooked overnight sooo good. We also had a quiche which came with pimento cheese grits and asparagus bisque. Delicious! For dessert I had Mississippi Mud and the boyfriend got white chocolate bread pudding. Can't go wrong. Highly recommended.

Fine dining that still provides generous portions. Considering the ambiance and quality of food, this place is a bargain and by far the best place in Vicksburg for a fancy date or the like. With appetizers and drinks with your dinner expect to pay around fifty a person, which as mentioned, is certainly not overpriced for what you get. I can't wait to try their Sunday brunch!

Amazing food!! Melt in your mouth garlic bread, best steak we've ever had, and very friendly family wait staff. Excellent spicy cheese grits, delicious bread pudding, etc. Wish we could eat here every night! :) Great ambience in an old historic site as well. Really perfect date spot!

Really neat historic Victorian style house. I love history and thrive on it and there's alot here and also has a bed and breakfast. Jefferson Davis also lived in this house for a period of time. Really cozy and laid back place, and the people there were very nice and informative on info on the house, vicksburg ,and civil war.

Our stay at Anchuca was such a delightful experience. We wouldn't have changed anything. The food was outstanding, Tom's history lesson of the property and former residents made the stay so much more interesting. We loved being in the Wilson Bedroom. You feel the admiration the proprietors have of Anchuca and they unselfishly want you to have the same feeling. And you will. Don't miss this wonderful place in Vicksburg.

Simply a gem of a place to stay in Vicksburg. They were very accommodating to our large group and provided a delicious dinner and breakfast. The history of the house is a fascinating story and it adds to the overall charm. Our group has stayed here several times and we plan to stay again. Highly recommended.

I booked a room for two nights. Unfortunately, they made an error and double-booked the second night. When I returned from my grandfather's funeral, I found all of my family's belongings stuffed into random suitcases in the hallway. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.

Excellent atmosphere and lovely place. Everything is kept-up well and rooms are nice. The parking isn't all that great because of the restaurant for guests. It's somewhat of an inconvenience, but overall very nice place!

Beautiful, Absolutely Beautiful! Staff are amazing! The owner is the sweetest man. I love this place so much! They have on site outdoor kitties I enjoyed visiting with very much! I'm so glad Anchuca is so well taken care of. So much history there. The restaurant is 5 stars! Delicious food! Service was perfect. I stayed in the carriage house, Emma's room. Beautiful room! Very comfortable bed. Cleanliness was on par with my standards, my standards are high. The pool was sparkling clean. The gardens beautiful! Anchuca is perfection.

Beautiful home full of history. We had the pleasure of the owner's company at breakfast, and I talked his arm off regarding the Civil War. (ther's a stars & bars flag that was flown over Vicksburg in the library!) Even if you don't stay in the bed & breakfast I HIGHLY recommend going into the restaurant for dinner. We had a truly lovely meal. I had a filet mignon and cut it with a butter knife, & the coconut cake was devine. We'll definitely be going back some day!

So sorry to say, poor service, only Jacob could do anything. VERY salty on all food. Rice lacked character, fish and pork over powered with seasoning. My desert was great, so I gave a 3 instead of 2.

We arrived at Anchuca after tour hours but a very kind staff gave us a tour anyway. Granted it was mainly by video, we were allowed to walk around and look at the place by ourselves afterwards. All in all, it was very interesting and worth the stop no matter how you look at it.

We attended the historic tour and were very dissappointed. They sit you down to watch a video then set you loose in the house without any further information other than what you can try to re all from the video. You get upstairs and most of the floor is closed off completely while two bedrooms had a velvet rope barring entry so you could at least look in. Stickers around the house have a number scheme that is distracting and confusingly out of sync. Finally none of the furnishings are original and seems to be more storage for the owner of random stuff. Lastly, personal pics of the owner with various movie stars is not only out of place but comes across as the owner being more focused on showing themselves off rather than the house. At $10/person it was the most expensive tour we came across, and sadly the worst. The others were guided tours and were amazing.

My daughter and I took a road trip this summer to discover the south and the the gulf coast. We toured the Vicksburg Battlefield and museum. We also visited 10 plantations/ historical homes, and spent overnight in a Bed and Breakfast. Anchuca stood out as our favorite! The bed and breakfast experience was fantastic!!! We thoroughly enjoyed the staff and accommodations! We slept in the Master suite and felt like royalty !!!! Truly a must stay in Vicksburg!!!

Just ate at the Cafe... Dinner was delicious. From the shrimp and grits to the incredibly tender filet and homemade creamed spinach to the Bonzo cake and rum cake, everything we ate was yummy and served with friendly, prompt service in a charming, historic setting!

This is a long delayed travel review. My wife and I visited Anchuca over 10 years ago and I promised that I would write a review. How about that for procrastination. The thing that kept nagging me was that I had a wonderful time, yet I had never fulfilled my promise. To start with, when we arrived we had rented one of the large rooms on the 2nd floor along with a separate room for our then teenage son. The owners let us know that we would be the only ones there that weekend, so we had the run of the house. After we had toured Vicksburg during the day, we returned to an absolutely fantastic meal. The owners were outstanding host and cooks. Later on my son went to his room to listen to music and talk to friends. We decided to go downstairs and check out the den. Almost everything was period specific including the baby grand piano. My wife is an excellent piano player, so I relaxed in one of the super comfortable chairs while she played tunes on the piano. As I was relaxing and my mind was drifting, I almost felt as if I was back in time. What a wonderful thing.... then a sound from this century rang out. My teenage daughter, who had stayed at home to attend some school functions, reached out to me from another century to disturb my peace. The mood was broken, but the experience has lingered with me. The next morning we experienced a wonderful breakfast. I really can't think of a better experience at a bed and breakfast. It was amazing. You really need to try this out.

Beautiful home to tour and also have a charming lunch. We went on Sunday afternoon. There were several groups of ladies and only a couple of men .. but the special menu had choices that both would like. Perfect portions and pleasant atmosphere.

We stayed in the rear "slave quarters" of the house, and it was such a lovely stay. All details were attended to-- from ice prepped in the fridge, to the air turned down, and chocolates for the pillows. And did I mention full-sized coffee pot with real cream!? Staff was helpful and kind; and the tour of the house was informative and brief. The house is centrally located to downtown Vicksburg and its historic districts. Also, don't forget your swimsuits-- the pool is as drool-worthy as the Sunday Brunch!

Stayed here for 3 nights. The staff was all friendly. The house was very well furnished (but is needing some TLC) and overall the room was good. Our room was upstairs in the main house, so depending on the night and the crowd, it can be quite noisy in the evening. The main complaint we had was breakfast. First morning was okay- fresh cooked eggs, grits, bacon, biscuits. The next morning was almost the same thing, but cold, like it had been sitting for some time, and was bad enough we passed on breakfast on the final morning, which is the point of a bed and breakfast. We've stayed at many bnbs across the country, and the breakfast here was at the bottom of our list.
