I've visited Escalante Ruin before, but missed the visitors' center. This facility is amazing, well worth your time and attention. I'll be back-- not tomorrow, they're closed on Monday, but maybe Tuesday, before I have to leave Cortez.

The visitors center and museum are closed but a 1/2 mile trail leads up to a pueblo and gives you a lot of information on native plants and how they are used. There is also an overlook of McPhee Reservoir. I think it would be nice if they also had a set of steps, shortening the trail to about a hundred yards. It was nice that they put out maps and someone had drawn a suggested route on it.

I love the smell Museum it's a beautiful and trends very well kempt beautiful garden out front with labeled plants in the beds. The inside exhibits are very well. 5th grade explanation of their history and where we came from I'm done under active section that will keep children engaged there's also a short hike up a mildly sloped Hill to a Kiva also known as a pit house to go in Explorer. The area dates back to the late 1700s and there is also a great View McPhee reservoir from up there to be mindful if you take a pet on the path as the sidewalk can get very hot in that sun

A very informative little museum. Also the headquarters for the canyons of the ancients national monument. A good place to start if you travel to the four corners region to learn about archeology.

Excellent museum with a lot of interactive exhibits for the kids. I would recommend stopping here before visiting the sites of the park because you have more information about your visit and exploration. The kids were able to participate in a scavenger hunt and they learned quite a bit! Anyone interested in history would love this museum. There are many artifacts and an excellent amount of information about the excavations of the past.

This is such a hidden gem. All the volunteers are friendly and provide you with a wealth of information. On Saturdays during the summer, there is a small presentation on similar archaeological sites found around the world. You can even hike to the top of the property to see Pueblo ruins. Much less crowded than the very popular Mesa Verde. Lots to see and do here.

The museum has a complete display of the Canyons of the Ancients history. Pottery, tools, even a model of the homes. There are detailed Maps of the area and the Pueblos migration south. There are alot of original artifacts and documented how they were found and by who... Very comprehensive view of life years ago....

Great place for a quick stop. Picnic tables and 1/2 mi paved trail to a great view. March still had snow on trail, so was a little tougher. We were short on time so may hit the museum next time.

While the canyons themselves are quite stunning visually, the visitors center focuses more on the previous inhabitants and what they have left behind. I did not find the exhibits to be particularly interesting, it was like going though an 800 year old dumpster and speculating about each item.

The Visiters Center has a very nice museum as well as two excavated Pueblos. One is right as you enter the Visiters Center, and the other is up a 1/2 mile paved path. The path is uphill all the way, but it is not too strenuous and makes for More

Big, innovatively designed, architecturally neat museum bringing together the information and artifacts of the Ancestral Puebloan peoples who lived in the area before the 1300s, part of Chaco culture and the folks who fled its implosion. A welcome addition to all the great sites in the neighborhood, Hovenweep, Mesa Verde, etc. Great to have it all pulled together in one site -- how humans dealt with the harsh, hostile but beautiful landscape of the southwest.

The 1st time here we only had 30 min until close, so we came back the next time we were in the area. The museum has a lot of pictures, information, pottery and other remnants to learn more about this area. Staff are helpful and friendly, would recommend stopping by if you have time!

The museum here is very fascinating. Did not have time to do the scenic loop drive, but I will be returning in the future because I think I definitely want to spend a couple days exploring all this park has to offer!
