If you’re wanting CDL training, and you’re going to pay for it out of your pocket, DO NOT consider this company. If you are collecting unemployment benefits and workforce, Indian tribes, etc are paying your tuition, then consider ATT. Do it, you got nothing to lose (more on this later).
I plunked down the 5200 on my credit card to get the “discount”(bad move). Spent the first week in the classroom “learning”, what I could have 100% learned on my own, In order to get my CDL permit (there’s 2-3 CDL prep apps that are free to download that will get you ready for the written test). The instructor at ATT was a good, likable guy, but the curriculum was scattered and we spent about half of the time watching videos, that we could have watched anywhere, in an 88 degree classroom.
So now I’m cleared to go to the yard. But I and others notice on our first yard day that 30ish % of the people in our week 1 classroom time aren’t there (more more later).
Giving credit here, ATT was helpful in getting the required stuff handled…physical, required UA documentation, getting med card.
I spent 2 days in the yard. 8 hour days. Out of the 8 hours, I got 6 minutes of time behind the wheel. Both days. 16 hours on the lot, 12 minutes driving a truck forward and back. After 2 days, I paused my training because of the lack of drive time and bc it was 110 degrees. My 52 yr old self don’t handle 7 hrs 54 minutes of doing nothing when it’s stupid hot.
Here’s the more later part. If you are a pay my own way guy/gal, think about this. AT LEAST HALF of the students are there without having to put any of their own money down. Unemployment benefit recipients get free tuition. Some Indian tribers get free tuition. Do you think these entitlement recipients take the training as seriously as someone that pays their own way?
The more more later part…why would 30ish% not show up to the yard? Think about it. Does this company really care about getting people to their CDL? Or are they taking workforce/tribe/other govt money knowing a sizable chunk will quit when they don’t pass the written test/realize it’s over their head?
Yes, I have an axe to grind. Mentioned earlier, I paused my training in July. I arranged with my recruiter, at the time I paused,to resume my training October 3. I wanted to see it through, get my CDL, even though I had all this bad taste. The admin people couldn’t get their collective poop in a group, so my earliest restart would have been October 17. At that point, I was done. If it was just the admin mixup on the restart, I would probably be good. That’s not all it was. And the owner refused to refund ANY of my money.
Oklahoma law isn’t on their side.
Will update. Look for better options if you’re gonna lay out 5k of your own money
