Alpha Sigma Tau National Sorority: Empowering Women for Over 120 Years
Alpha Sigma Tau (AST) is a national sorority that has been empowering women for over 120 years. Founded in 1899 at Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University), AST has grown to become one of the most respected and influential sororities in the United States.
The mission of Alpha Sigma Tau is to promote the ethical, cultural, and social development of its members. The Sorority invests in women by instilling the skills necessary to navigate life, and inspires members to enrich their own lives and the lives of others.
AST offers a wide range of programs and services designed to help its members achieve their full potential. These include leadership development programs, community service projects, academic support services, career counseling, networking opportunities, and much more.
One of the key strengths of Alpha Sigma Tau is its commitment to diversity and inclusion. The Sorority welcomes women from all backgrounds who share its values of sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, service, personal growth, and integrity.
AST also places a strong emphasis on philanthropy. The Sorority supports several charitable organizations through fundraising events such as walks/runs for breast cancer awareness or other causes that are important to our sisters.
In addition to these programs and services offered by AST nationally; each chapter also provides unique opportunities for members based on their local communities' needs. This allows each member's experience with AST to be tailored specifically towards her interests while still maintaining our core values as an organization.
Alpha Sigma Tau has over 90 active chapters across the United States with more than 10k initiated sisters nationwide. Our alumnae network spans across generations providing lifelong connections between sisters long after graduation day!
