Freshly renovated, nice rooms, coffee and tea available in rooms with some sweets for desert. Breakfast buffet was really good, with plenty of choice. Staff welcoming, helpful and friendly.

It was first post-COVID19 trip. Hotel is certainly not worth a Marriott label as their service is from deep Soviet Union Russia times. I seriously wonder if they got it only because of bribing some officials doing the check-ups. If you have previously stayed in AC hotels in Spain, think about exact opposite what it could be, in negative terms and you get more or less what this property is about.

What was good? Ground floor felt fresh and spacious. The dining area was nicely designed. Breakfast options quite decent - nicely made eggs and pancakes. Internet worked, with speeds between 10 to 30 Mbps. Location is quite central. That's it.

What was bad? Having ventilation, otherwise super loud during the daytime, automatically switched off at 11pm in the summer heat is not good - you literally run out of air to breathe in the tiny room. If you open the window to get some air - it will be noisy. And the bed is rather hard. Don't expect to get any sound sleep. Also most of the rooms are tiny (they call them Comfort rooms) - unless you are having a small carry-on, there would be no space for a bigger suitcase. The worst however is lack of any service and outright hostility towards guests. The hotel decided to unilaterally change publicly advertised rate terms and inclusions after the check-in. On showing copy of conditions from Marriott.com - the hotel said directly that they are not in any way related to Marriott and they are not AC Marriott property despite the name. They had my booking I had made on marriott.com - allowed to check-in, just ignoring any contractual obligations coming from that. So, if you are looking forward to experience the Soviet Union type customer hostility in service, look no further - visit AC Hotel in Riga and you'll be back to 1980s deep Soviet Union. Unless that's your thing, avoid the property at all costs.
