We shouldn't have to wear masks when we are outside!

Wife was at the zoo last week walking down the sloped pathway when she slipped on the P gravel. She fell on her back and injured it. She is still experiencing pain. Pea gravel on a sloped trail? Are you kidding me! You might as well pave the trail with marbles and get the liability suit over with. I will give you till the next tim my daughter takes her kids to the zoo to get that hazard fixed before I bring pressure legally. At least put crushed gravel on the sloped pathways.

Love the animals! They are so always happy to great people. The workers are so helpful and help with people with disabilities.

After our last visit. I'm worried the zoo is running out of money or something.

I went in October and it was pretty dead, not to many ppl and it was pretty small. I'll bring my daughter when she's old enough to appreciate it.

Beautiful setting for some cold hardy animals. A learning and awareness experience for the whole family. We must respect our fellow creatures by first learning about them.

Great zoo. The paddocks are cool and you get closer to the animals than any zoo I've ever been too. Good collection of animals. The wolves are the best! And Cranberry of course.

Great local zoo to view bears and wolves. The wolves always catch my eye and the exhibit is built nicely to view them pretty closely.

Our experience at the Alaska Zoo was one of vivid and beautiful memories with family. We'll never forget the beautiful environment, where these gorgeous and splendid animals were kept immersed in nature. With a plethora of sights to see, we were able to spend most of our day there just taking everything in. From Swans to Moose; from wolverines to llamas and more.

We've been to many zoos and this has to be one of the best.. as far as animal proximity and activity goes. The coyotes were playing with each other, the tigers were walking on our side of the fence (being super active), one of the bald eagles was right next to us at the top walkway, the bear was on our side of the fence 'playing' in the water, etc etc. There was snow on the ground but gravel was put down so it wasn't slippery. We saw two wild bald eagles in a tree. My only "complaint" would be that the coffee area was closed but I get it... Covid and all. Small zoo but was actually bigger than we expected. Would absolutely recommend.

Nice zoo, close to airport. Great way to spend the afternoon before we flew out.

Facility is top notch and the service/support was exceptional.

Ok zoo. Bonus was wheelchair accessible and animals were close up to see and visible. Back story of each animal. Friendly staff. Negative is no paved walkways, animals are in very small cages and looked pretty unkemp.

I went in and made big eyes and WoW. I have never seen such a great place. Great people work there. It was evident that they love animals and their job

It's a Zoo and it is a good place for exercise it's not too terribly expensive and they give you a discount for being an Alaskan

One of my favorite places. You can feel the heart of the Alaskan spirit here. Local volunteers helping to rehabilitate Alaskan wildlife. Love this place.

A good place to take the kids to see the animals and learn about them

This place was beautiful! My husband and I had a very pleasant visit. Most of the animals were rescued which was great to see. Bring the kids and family to enjoy a great experience and education!

Great zoo to explore. Wonderful exhibit's, though could use some better amenities as far as food goes. Just a small coffee shop with minimal snacks.

Awesome experience! One of my kids wanted to see a moose while we were in Alaska. The zoo offered that and so much more. Great day at the zoo but wear walking shoes

Quite a few of the exhibits were empty. Two exhibits were Off bug spray which was pretty cheesy.

Being from Kodiak, I wasn't too happy with the brown bear habitat.

I would love to see the poparbear feeding. Seen the back of them going back in. It was a real nice zoo.

Such a fun experience! The animals were lively and looked well fed and happy.

Came in the thick of winter during the day but made some new Alpaca friends!

We went to the Christmas zoo lights the night of the big earthquake, it was awesome that they were open when just about everything else was closed. The lights were really cute and it was really cool to see all the nocturnal animals being active, a whole different experience compared to your typical daytime zoo visit when many of the animals are sleeping. The Snow Leopards, Amir Tiger, Coyote, mountain goat, were all great. We also got to hear the bald eagles calling to each other, which we d never heard before. Great visit and definitely worth a visit for the Christmas lights, reduced admission price is sweet!

You basically get all the animals that you can find in the backyard of Alaska. Overpriced and there is no "ooooss" or "ahhhs" thatll make you want to comeback for more. Light show in the winter...? really?

We had an enjoyable time here, but there was no one around to answer questions or stand by the popular exhibits offering information. Budget cuts maybe?

Some nice exhibits but signs are in short supply. Not easy to find things at times

We had a great time at this zoo. The price was reasonable and the even though the animals were in large cages/areas, we were able to see most of the animals up close and personal.

Too many empty cages. Over grown. You took the Snow Leopard from Abq. My home . just jokes

Great for kids that like animals. There's a small playground here too for little ones.

Been here before in the summer. Great activity to bring little ones on nice days. Tonight (2018 Black Friday) we attended the opening of Zoo Lights. Fun event where various Christmas lights are displayed through the zoo as you visit with the animals that are still up and moving at night in the cold. For use this was the seals, leopards, tigers, cyotes, muskox, and a few others I'm not remembering.

TDLR: Zoo Lights was a great event and always fun to visit this place for the littles to see a variety of animals.

Loved the brown bears, they put on a show by themselves. Dissapointed in the polar bears though.

Wasn't expecting it to be as nice as it was. Unusually wooded, very nice place to walk through.

This place is a maze in a good way. My daughter loved getting lost on the paths to different animals. We spent 2 hours here and didnt see everything. Great place to take toddlers to kill an afternoon.

Always loved going to the zoo!!! Go on a cool day and the animals are more active. Great family activity

Not many animals an they didn't look very well.. cages overgrown with brush.. kinda sad

Sorta small in general. With all the land in alaska at very least the animals should have more space.

Would have been better if we had been able to see the polar bear. But besides that it was a good little zoo.

Not a lot has changed since I was kid going here over 20 years ago. Most of the same animals and a lot of them are local animals to the region. Small compared to other city zoo's. It is worth checking out but not a place you would pay to go in again and again.

Interesting take on a zoo, inexpensive good for a couple hours visit for sure.

Absolutely loved our visit to Alaska and one of our stops was the zoo. It was awesome.

Nice place, I like the fact it's open all year round

I really wanted to like this zoo. The problem is the animals all look so sad being caged that it's hard to have a good time. The brown bears just sat there moping.

Great tourist location and fun for all ages, but could use some renovations as many exhibits are either scheduled only or out of order.

We spent about 2.5 hours and had seen everything that was open including a little 5 min show the bears provided us in the back that made a great video.

Simple but nice zoo. They could use more signage to exhibits and exit. A bit hard to follow their map. We enjoyed our time there though.

Love the zoo, we've been there for company events, Boo at the Zoo for Halloween, regular trips and even did our wedding there, very affordable, the only negative was they didn't keep very good track that we paid for everything and contacted us over a year later about a missing payment, fortunately my wife kept the email showing we paid it off.

Great place! Kids had a great time here! Plenty to see and do. The facilities are very clean and well kept. It seems like the animals are well cared for. It wasn't over crowded. Very nice atmosphere.
