Alaska Zoo Review

Loved it! Got to see very different animals. The animals were all well taken care of. The zoo had a nice picnic area with a small play area for the kids. It has a nice cozy coffee shop as well. The food selection was good. I loved the hot cocoa

There is a large variety of animals, and has a very well set-up, although there are many animals that aren't able to be there, but there's plenty for you to enjoy. Also I recommend to go during the winter, because the animals are more active so they can stay warm, and it won't be as busy.

Loved the zoo. Great pictures of the animals. Loved that the walk around as it was very natural. Easy to see all th animals within 1.5 hrs if you have tight time schedule.

The exotic animals are very pleasant i learned a few new things there however some was quarantined but thats fine i remember coming here when I was 5 so very nostalgic to me speaking of 5 its stars for me

I couldn't see the bears in the national park but the zoo totally made up for it. Good place to take your kids

Great place to go with the kids. They enjoyed every moment. Wow, one if those bears was playing in the water with a boey.

It is a great time for the kids. There are all sorts if animals. The only things missing were polar bear, wolverine and moose.

Enjoyed watching the new baby seal was so enjoyable! Thank you for being a responsible zoo that takes in local orphaned animals.

Try to get the wolves to howl. They'll do it, but you have to work for it.

Didn't get to see very many animals. Might have been a timing thing. Such a lovely place and walk through that I didn't mind much.

Very nice place to spend a day with the kids. Very educational.

It was cool but I think it is better to go earlier in the day cause the animals will be awake.

My family loves this place. Beautiful place to spend in the summer and winter. My daughter loves going back often, especially for their perfectly salted popcorn.

Nice location, compared to the conservation centre, animals feel very cooped up

The zoo is little, but feels cozy. I lover all the flower baskets in the summer! They have story time for the little ones. Fun thing to do with kids.

I love this zoo, and animal refuge. Every exhibit in the park is alluring and fascinating. My kids love it so much. I love that they are always interested in going. We go just about every Sunday. Porcupine, tigers, wolves, wolverine, snow leopard and Llama (rest easy Caesar) are our must see every time.

Very clean and well maintained! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The animals seem to sleep in the middle of the afternoon though, so I will have to try going sometime earlier in the day when next I visit. My daughter's favorites are the seals and the petting zoo!

Your time would be better spent at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Centre.

Enjoyed my time there, all the animals look well cared for and I especially loved the Off Exhibit.

Very cool zoo! Felt like you were hiking through a forest. Paths were well maintained. Great exhibits with active animals. Very informative displays. Well worth the price.

A great place to visit and its right in Anchorage! Thr coffee shop makes great lattes, the zoo is well kept and has a great variety of exhibits. Dont miss the river otters!

We did the zoo keeper for a day and it was amazing. We got to make diets for some of the animals and feed a handful! Of course, we had to um clean up after them too. But these up close encounters I will remember for the rest of my life!

The zoo had interesting animals. The coffee shop was experience was less than desirable. An expansion of the serving and paying area would be very welcome.

Poor animals. They are wild animals, but they have to stay in small cages. Through their eyes, I found the deepest lonely.

Surprisingly great zoo for being in Alaska. My girlfriend and I had a great time. If you find yourself in Anchorage it's worth the visit and ten bucks.

Never again.. those animals look like they're depressed..

All the Animals were very active today. Wolves and kids were all howling!!

I enjoy the improvements being made, miss the bee exhibit though.

Its ways fun for the family to go to the zoo. My mom took me and my sister almost every week when we were kids.

Very nice little zoo. Many animals were off exhibit but I expected that as it's still winter. The animals still out were very active.

The zoo is relatively small, but features amazing animals. Take the time to read the story of the animals that are in the zoo, they are pretty impressive.

Still an amazing place to visit. I haven't been in 10 years but took my neice today and had as much fun as ever. The wolf enclosure is amazing. My niece wanted to "start a howl" while all the wolves were asleep. Not only did she wake them up, but they all came to see her. Always worth a trip and if you've never been, you simply must.

All these animals are rescues which I think is so cool. The exhibits are a little ran down but it was a nice little zoo.

This is one of my most favorite zoos, and we visit zoos everywhere we go. They focus on animals from Alaska, and you get to walk around in a nice wooded area.

I loved seeing the variety of animals but they were all very hot and hardly any shade for them was available. Tight confinement not enough mobility.

There are a lot of good exhibits of animals that are native to the far north. The walk from one exhibit to the next is very enjoyable. The forest setting feels natural to what you are here to enjoy. I do wish that there were more detailed learning opportunities. These are seriously the most fun paint jobs I've ever seen in a public restroom, though.

Polar bear was not there. Watched bald eagle, snow panther very closely. The brown bears don t live in very good condition. They looked bored.

Friendly place that is educational and a great rehabilitation center for injured animals. Reasonable pricing.
Map was a bit confusing though.
Enclosures offer various viewing angles.
They offer personal tours and interactions with certain animals including assisting with feeding.. There are snow leopards, black bears, brown bears, a variety of owls and predatory birds as we'll as camels, alpacas and a petting zoo.

Nice small zoo. Very kid oriented. Can walk the whole zoo and not be exhausted. Saw many people struggling with strollers on the gravel trails.

Not a very big zoo. The polar bears are really neat though!

Love this zoo! I went in the fall and had a splendid time. Unlike other zoos I have been to, this zoo felt a lot like I was in the wild and that the animals were in their natural habitat. While the zoo may not be as big or have as many animals as other zoos, it really has a nice relaxing atmosphere. It was not crowded at all when I went. Pretty sure I saw more animals than people. Yay!

A ton of the animals were off exhibit, but we weren't told that until after we paid full price to get in.

This zoo is different than most in the lower 48 in that it's smaller and seems to have a different focus. We we lived in Phoenix we used to go to the Phoenix Zoo which is nice however I prefer The Alaska Zoo because the walk is so much more enjoyable even if there is overall less exhibits. We ended up getting seasons passes as its a quick outing and like every zoo, is going to be a different experience based on time of day and time of year. We have our own stroller that works well on trails however it does appear that they have loaner strollers that would do better on the paths than city strollers. The paths aren't perfect level cement paths everywhere which is nice as I think it makes it feel a bit more natural.

Very nice place. Good for families to use as a park with an annual membership.

Well taken care of animals with lots to see. Loved it that it has a write up on each animal they have.

Small zoo that I still spent 3 hours looking at. Wonderful value for the $15 admission if you re looking for things to do in Anchorage.

One of the best location in the town to go with family and enjoy your time. I really like this place. Will surely revisit here.!!

Nice little zoo, but the special behind the scenes tour was $28! Too expensive for very little knowledge you gain. Just walk it yourself.

A wonderful night of Zoo Lights. Great displays and family fun.

First of all the place is deserted. The animals are miserable and hungry. I did not see maintenance staff or anyone tending to the animals. It is poorly funded and there are a lot of animals that are lonely in a cage. There are a lot of empty exhibits and not enough space for the larger animals. The bears are starved and the polar bears weren't even there. This is the last zoo on earth that I would come to a third time. I say a third time because I give everywhere a 2nd chance. I mean seriously its Alaska everybody that hears there's a zoo I. Alaska expect much more than some abandoned run down animal sanctuary because that's what it is.
