They will mark your student absent on days even when they attend and do there schoolwork. They also give me homework on sundays so I get homework Monday through Friday which is fine but then I now have to get on on Sunday bc recently I seen that I ve had missing assignments from Sunday that was handed out Sunday and due that night!. Not only that but it is so many websites and accounts you have to make and get on it s just a mess, then you have live sessions which is litterally the exact same thing as public school.

This was a great choice for us. Our son engaged more consistently than in traditional school. He was able to focus without the discipline issues of other students affecting his school day. There is a broad range of classes to choose from. The staff were super helpful and attentive. Our family coach was instrumental in our sons' success and in our success as parents of a distance learning student. It allowed flexibility in scheduling since we could go somewhere as a family and he could continue participating in school. It was a win all around for us.

My experience with Agora has been nothing but great. As someone who has been to Catholic, Public and now Cyber School, Agora has been the best fit for me. Homework is minimal, however there is enough to help a student retain information and stay engaged. What other reviews fail to mention is, all the quizzes assigned to students have the ability to be retaken should the student need to do so. Daily "tests" have an average of five questions. It really is not that much to ask of a student. Previously I was assigned an average of an hour and a half of homework sometimes up to two hours at Public and Catholic School. Never have I had such an overload of homework at Agora. Teachers will go out of their way to help a student, they offer one on one study sessions and even provide a phone number to call if a student needs a question answered ASAP. Agora is like a breath of fresh air and a great alternative to traditional schooling, but not to be mistaken for "an easy way out".

Great school so far. However, I only see students like myself fail whenever their legal guardians are irresponsible, and when students are truant and not dedicated. Keep in touch with the staff: keep up with your work, go to conventions and most importantly you ask for help!

I agree, if you stay on top of everything and stay organized, etc it really is not that difficult. Yes they seem to change the web site every year, but there really aren't BIG changes and its pretty self-explanatory. If my family coach doesn't know the answer to something he is very good at finding the answer out.
My son is a special needs student and i feel as though AGORA provides him more of what he needs than public school ever did! We are starting his 3rd year at AGORA and I do not have any complaints!
It's nice to not have to argue with my son to attend school and to finally have teachers that are there for him!

This school isn't for me. I'm not learning anything anymore. I've been doing this for about 5 years. At the beginning it was great but then the teachers kept getting worse and worse You get marked absent for every little thing. At this point I'm done.I'm not coming back for the last year. The family coaches think they're entitled. They can be nasty and rude. They do not respond to phone calls or emails. When they do it's weeks after the problem is over.I had a family coach from when I lived in Allentown who came over uninvited. She kept banging on the doors and I had to turn off all the lights and sounds in my house because I was a teen at home in class. When I didn't answer the door she started looking through the windows.I had a window in my room so I saw her walk up our front steps.I had to hide in the bathroom and call my dad who was about to get off work.He told me not to let her in.When confronted later on she made it seem like she just knocked and no one answered so she left, but we had a security system. On the outside cameras it showed her walking around the whole house and looking through our windows like I had told my dad.She later on in the year came for a home visit my dad and me were super cautious of her. They also love to send you threats when you miss class even though you're sitting in the class and the school is having glitches. They don't even fix the attendance issues. One teacher used to talk about his mug and house renovations through the whole class. He would leave class early because he was getting work done on his house. When confronted about all this in private by my mom he decided to tell the whole class what my mom had told him in confidence. Then on the last day of school another teacher decided she wanted to go back and forth with my mom. She was nasty and getting smart I guess because she would never be my teacher again she didn't care. I think they both eventually got fired, probably because we weren't the only ones with complaints. The school got a budget cut from Governor Tom Wolf and they posted his office number on the school website basically telling us to keep calling until we got our budget back.THAT'S HARASSMENT.They most likely cut the budget because our principle was supposed to have stole money from agora. With all these problems they should just be shut down all together.

My daughter has been going to this school for 4 years now. I do agree with some of the negative comments about homeroom . She DOES get homework, she is in 7th grade, she should be getting it. She should be challenged. I expect nothing less!
My daughter went from getting F's in public school to straight A's in Agora Cyber School. Her confidence in herself is just amazing. Her teachers push her because they know she can do the work, because they care.
My daughter is autistic and public school told me in her IEP "that as long as she was progressing with her special education teachers don't worry about the F's! She wasn't EVER going to get much more." I took her out of public school and we have been with Agora ever since. It was the best decision I ever made!!
As for the Family Coaches, mine let's us know when activities are going to happen and she does come to the house. They have to see where my daughter is learning, that is completely understandable. We aren't in a public school and they need to report if we have a safe learning environment. After all your home IS your school!

I don't understand the negative reviews. We've had an incredible experience at Agora. This school takes the students our public schools refuse to educate, or have been bullied out of them. We had 3 students who did beautifully in public school, A-student athletes, never understood how barbaric the other side of our public schools are. 4th child required help- never saw a family turned into criminals so quickly this side of prison. We fled. Agora picked this nice kid up, saw him through a the rest of a shattered year ( inclusive of the concussion syndrome- gift from the bullying at the old district ) , got him his IEP and gave him the confidence needed to go ON. Individual attention, coaching, constant encouragement and understanding- could not recommend it more. Passed a year for the first time in THREE YEARS, no summer school. Thank you, Agora.

I'd post the name of the public school by way of comparison but they love spending tax payer money on lawyers. Never saw such a litigious bunch in my life. Agora? Spends it on education, not an attorney in sight.

I've been at this school for 6 years and For some reason they feel the need to change the website EVERY YEAR for no reason. Students already have a hard time with the ridiculous amount of homework that the teachers (and more) give you. Also, if you're in a school (not homeschooling) they don't give you as many tests no matter what grade you're in. Agora however just doesn't care. You have practice tests, quizzes, study island for some students, Star360, etc. I wish their was a better homeschooling website. I'd stop going to Agora immediately.

Also, if you're hoping your child would be just as social as if they were in actual school building, I really advise you not to choose this school. No matter what grade youre in, the teachers make it very difficult for students to interact with each other, even on school trips. This can and will literally make your child depressed and lonely.

There is no help available for the students with IEP s! They say they are there but truly honestly they aren t! Than when you try and contact after hours or school days nobody is available and you get the twist around story!
