About African fertilizer and agribusiness partnership
The African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) is a renowned strategy and economic development practice that specializes in the fertilizer and agribusiness sector. The company has established itself as a leading service provider to both private and public sectors, offering sustainable development projects and policies that focus on market-driven business solutions in fertilizer and agribusiness for agriculture productivity.
At AFAP, we understand the importance of adding value to the fertilizer and agribusiness value chain. We achieve this by building capacity through training programs, linking African Hub-Agrodealers with Smallholder Farmers, providing access to finance, technology transfer, market information systems, quality control systems among other services.
Our mission is to promote food security in Africa by increasing agricultural productivity through improved access to fertilizers. We believe that fertilizers are essential inputs for improving soil fertility which leads to increased crop yields. Our goal is not only limited to increasing agricultural productivity but also ensuring sustainability of our interventions.
We work closely with governments across Africa at national level as well as regional economic communities such as COMESA (Common Market for Eastern & Southern Africa), ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African States), SADC (Southern African Development Community) among others. Our partnerships with these organizations have enabled us to leverage resources towards achieving our objectives.
AFAP's approach is based on three pillars: policy advocacy; capacity building; and investment facilitation. Through policy advocacy we engage governments at all levels advocating for policies that support private sector investment in agriculture including tax incentives for input suppliers such as fertilizer companies.
Capacity building involves training programs aimed at enhancing skills of farmers on good agronomic practices including proper use of fertilizers while investment facilitation involves working with financial institutions such as banks or microfinance institutions towards providing affordable credit facilities for smallholder farmers who would otherwise not be able to afford them.
In conclusion, AFAP has positioned itself as a key player in promoting food security in Africa through increased agricultural productivity. Our focus on market-driven business solutions in fertilizer and agribusiness has enabled us to add value to the fertilizer and agribusiness value chain by building capacity and linking African Hub-Agrodealers with Smallholder Farmers. We are committed to working with governments, regional economic communities, financial institutions, input suppliers among other stakeholders towards achieving our objectives.
