Exuberant views and surprisingly well structured. The lodge is located in a high hill and disclosure an incredible landscape. The room was spacious, the common areas have cozy fireplaces. The meals come in generous amounts. Some can be shared.

We loved every moment at this place! Everything from the staff, the view, the food (yum!), to the chilled vibes and beautiful rooms.. we never wanted to leave. The friendly staff took us on a tour of the different levels of the outside area to make sure we would know where to best see the sunset (wow!) and where to see the clear starfilled sky next to an open fire pit (so romantic) It is a secluded area far away from noise and cars in the most beautiful nature. Although it is easy to get around and in the reception they know of every fun attraction in the area and can call before hand to help you book a tour if needed. If you're in the party mood there is also great company to be had in the backpackers bar. This is a must do if you are ever close to Plettenberg Bay
Is stand by my words! This is the best view in South Africa. The owners Mathew and Vicky are amazing people who love taking care of their guests and making sure they have an pleasant stay.
One of the most beautiful views I've seen. The atmosphere at African Array is something special and should definitely be on everyones list when doing the Garden Route - or just visiting Plett over a weekend. This place suits any traveller, no matter if you're a camping backpacker, a family or a couple. It is far away from civilisation and the beach - but you can easily arrange a shuttle with Dorian to anywhere you want to go. Friendly staff, always clean and fresh, great food, the guest kitchen was good, comfy beds. The owners did a very good job on making this place awesome! I'd recommend African Array to everyone!
Great views and atmosphere for young people breakfast was great. Just bring your own shower towels because the ones there weren't very absorbant

We were guided by the many good recommendations and were accommodated in the "luxury room": large, own large balcony and a bathroom with a beautiful view. The staff was also very nice.
But you have to know that this is a hostel! The array lodge will probably always lose the comparison with a normal hotel: fairly old, not very clean and relatively cheap ... If you expect service as in the hotel, must also book one.
Well, good for backpackers, but not at all suitable for holiday guests! You have to make your own food

Nice place with great staff, very helpful ! It's clean. The room was big and with a great view on the robberg peninsula. The chef was very nice and always ready for us. We had the chance to share a braii with a large group which was great. The sunset view is amazing. Thomas, a volunteer, was also very nice. Only thing that need to be said on the down side is that the place needs a bit of maintenance. Its easy to find, the last 2km are on dirt road but it's ok with a normal car.

African Array is a beautiful hostel in Plettenberg Bay, it is a bit out of the way but the hostel has a shuttle service, and the check in can be done at night, especially for those who are doing the Garden Route by bus, the restaurant is great serve breakfast and dinner only, the hostel is close to many tourist attractions such as the Boulkrans Bridge where the biggest bungy jump bridge is in the world, anyone who is passing through the region highly recommend African Array Backpackers :)
Wonderful place, if you don't stay here you are crazy. The views are amazing and the place's vibe is awesome. Absolutely loved it. There is food available, bar, fireplace, balcony with breathtaking views, friendly staff.

Ingenious accommodation with an incredible view. The access road is not the best, but you should definitely take the view. It's best to have a barbecue and a drink. The beds and toilets are also very good.

Im really glad i chose to stay at African Array Backpackers Lodge while i was in Plett. The staff was really friendly and incredibly helpful.
The view from the deck is by far the best one i have ever seen in my life. There are no words to describe me experience there, its was amazing!!
The first thing one notices when arriving at the African Array Backpacker Lodge is the amazing view from the outside deck.
African Array is big, bright, colorful, and lively, with a big surfing theme throughout. The common room is white, light, and airy, with a vaulted ribbed ceiling, bench seating along a wall, with nooks and crannies and sofas to conquer.
Our room was very comfortable, unremarkable, undistracting from the splendor outside.
Inside, there's activity in the kitchen; dinner will soon be served. I'm tired, and all the exertions of outside give way to my comfortable pillow.
The AABL staff were friendly, enthusiastic, and welcoming. It made this stop very pleasant.
Fast wifi, delicious food, amazing view from the terrace.

Horrible attitude and over-priced. A good view, but that's about it. I visited a friend and was told to leave 10pm sharp. Bad attitude towards us from owner, and double-charging on a lot of the billed items.

The place I visited and I like a lot of location and treat the owner and employees are nice and high ethics and also the place where the beautiful and beautiful view of the lake wonderful view of the morning and sunset and also the rooms are large and simple but also provide firewood and fire at night with a bed hanging on trees you can sleep in the morning or noon

The room was 14 bed hostel. With only a single dedicated toilet and showers with no hot water.
A wooden floor ensured that the sleeping experience was far from peaceful.
Also the dog on premise looks abused as we observed when we came across the dog being displined.
Incredible scenery. But otherwise the accommodation is a bit rotten. There is a bumpy dirt road where the accommodation is located. As a waypoint, the place works well.

This Backpackers really impressed me. The hospitality was warm and helpful and the views of the dam on their deck are breath-taking. They could improve on their self-catering facilities though but other than that, we really enjoyed our stay there.

I was the most amazing 2 days. It Is far, but they make everything posible. The food is great. The Views are amazing. And everything is clean, everyone is so helpful, the only thing i would Say just because one always can find something is that they don't have many books in English. But then, who needs books with those Views.
The place is beautiful, but it is in the woods, away from things. They make transportation easier, but they charge a high price for it. When I asked how much it would be to take me to an attraction, the clerk twice told me he would take it free and then charged me and said it was a misunderstanding. Apart from that, the space is very good, the delicious food, comfortable living room with fireplace, has very nice outdoor spaces to watch the sunset, a very beautiful view.

African Array is under new management and it really shows. Amazing atmosphere, incredible views, very chilled bar, very kiff owners. It's the place I come to every time I'm in Plett, which is a lot.
