About Adani power limited
Adani Power Limited: Ensuring Energy Security for India
Adani Power Limited is a leading power generation company in India that is committed to ensuring the nation's energy security. The company has a diversified portfolio of thermal and solar power plants across the country, which are designed to meet the growing demand for electricity in India.
With a total installed capacity of 12,410 MW, Adani Power Limited is one of the largest private power producers in India. The company operates six thermal power plants and four solar power plants across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh. These plants use state-of-the-art technology and adhere to strict environmental standards to ensure sustainable energy production.
Thermal Power Plants
Adani Power's thermal power plants have a combined installed capacity of 9,240 MW. These include Mundra Thermal Power Plant (4,620 MW), Tiroda Thermal Power Plant (3,300 MW), Kawai Thermal Power Plant (1,320 MW), Udupi Thermal Power Plant (1,200 MW), Pench Thermal Power Plant (1,320 MW) and Korba West Thermal Power Plant (600MW).
Mundra Thermal Power Plant is one of the world's largest coal-fired power plants with an installed capacity of 4.6 GW. It uses supercritical technology that ensures higher efficiency and lower emissions compared to conventional coal-fired power plants.
Tiroda Thermal Power plant located in Maharashtra has three units with an installed capacity of 660MW each using supercritical technology which makes it more efficient than other conventional coal-based thermal projects.
Kawai thermal plant located at Baran district in Rajasthan has two units with an installed capacity of 660MW each using supercritical technology which makes it more efficient than other conventional coal-based thermal projects.
Udupi plant located at Udupi district in Karnataka has two units with an installed capacity of 600MW each using sub-critical technology which makes it less efficient than other Adani’s Super Critical Coal Based Projects but still better than many others operating on sub-critical technologies.
Pench plant located at Nagpur district in Maharashtra has two units with an installed capacity of 660MW each using supercritical technology which makes it more efficient than other conventional coal-based thermal projects.
Solar Plants
Adani Solar operates four solar photovoltaic (PV) projects across Gujarat - Kamuthi Solar PV Project(648MWp), Bhadla Solar PV Project(648MWp), Kutchh Solar PV Project(1000MWp) & Dholera Solar Park(7000+GWp). These solar parks have been developed under National Solar Mission Scheme by Government Of India aiming towards achieving renewable energy targets set by government for reducing carbon footprint & promoting clean energy sources.
The Kamuthi Solar PV project is one among the world’s largest single location solar project having total installation size over around ~2GW spread over multiple locations within Tamil Nadu state as well as Andhra Pradesh state too apart from main location Kamuthi situated near Ramanathapuram District,Tamil Nadu State .
Bhadla Solar Park situated near Jodhpur city,Rajasthan State having total installation size over around ~2GW spread over multiple locations within Rajasthan State only making it one among biggest single location park globally .
Kutchh Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Park situated near Bhuj city,Gujarat State having total installation size over around ~5GW spread over multiple locations within Gujarat State only making it biggest single location park globally .
Dholera Special Investment Region(SIR) situated near Ahmedabad city,Gujarat State having planned installation size upto ~10GW making it biggest planned renewable energy park globally .
Sustainability Initiatives
Apart from generating electricity through its various facilities , Adani also focuses on sustainability initiatives such as afforestation , water conservation , waste management etc .
The company aims towards planting millions trees every year through its afforestation program called “Harit Kranti” . This program aims towards increasing green cover area while also providing livelihood opportunities for local communities living nearby these areas .
Water conservation initiatives includes rainwater harvesting systems being implemented across all their facilities alongwith usage reduction measures like recycling treated effluent water back into their processes wherever possible thus reducing fresh water consumption significantly .
Waste management initiatives includes segregation & disposal mechanisms being implemented across all their facilities alongwith usage reduction measures like recycling waste materials back into their processes wherever possible thus reducing landfilling significantly .
Conclusion:
In conclusion , Adani Group’s commitment towards ensuring nation’s energy security through its diversified portfolio comprising both traditional fossil fuel based technologies as well as modern renewable sources like solar clearly shows how they are contributing towards sustainable development goals set by United Nations . Their focus on sustainability initiatives further strengthens this commitment while also creating positive impact on environment & society overall .
