The Ace hotel is a pretty cool place to hang out and have some drinks with friends. They play good music but you are not allowed to dance. They have a bunch of rules because at the end of the day it is a hotel lobby. So you have to keep that in mind when security in forces all the rules. The lobby is dimly lit and have a bunch a seating. They have couches and nice cushioned chairs to sit on. They also have a long wood table where they have plugs for your computer. The drinks are a little bit pricey. But this is a cool place to hang out and meet new people.

Such a cool vibe in this laidback hotel! We ve booked 2 rooms with king beds, both with different layouts and views. One had a small shower and one had a very large one, both were nice and clean.
Housekeeping was great, clean rooms every day. The beds were amazing, great pillows and covers, just perfect.
Location is great, a few blocks from macy s and madison square park (flat iron building), subway station just a block away.
Great hotel for a city trip when you re a bit of a hipster

Alarm! Hipster levels are extremely high there:) but it's an ok hotel. Well equipped rooms.

Negative: I used late night room service to get something from their bar menu.... First of all i had to wait for more than 30 min and call again. And when it came (champagne) I was a bit pissed, to I just grabbed it, we drank it and only later I saw that they didn't give me the I one from the menu but charged me insane ammount for something they just decided to bring on their own and invent a price (menu didn't have that!).

Not fair to judge the "whole hotel" on that but either way, in my case, room service was abysmal...

Don't think I will be booking it again, not because I am upset or smth. I think it's possible to do better for that money.

I went to The Lobby Bar at the Ace Hotel and enjoyed it. It was crowded but there was still room to sit and relax. I had great conversations with new friends and recommend trying the beet salad on the bar menu.

The Breslin is amazing. Excellent food, convivial atmosphere. Throw in No. 7 Sub, which has some of the best sandwiches in the city, the John Dory Oyster Bar, and a Stumptown coffee, and you make a good argument for the Ace having one of the best hotel food scenes in the city.

Absolutely love the Ace. The staff were beyond friendly and accommodating; excellent service in every way. The whole vibe of the place is easy and fun and such an oasis from the bustling city, while being in one of the most centralized spots in the city to use as a home base. Our room was so quiet and beautifully appointed; very clean and so relaxing. I will recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone I know who will be visiting the city, and this is now my one and only place to stay for trips to NYC. Also, Stumptown is delicious and so convenient!

the ace hotel lobby bar is a hipster bar situated in a hipster hotel. expect loud music and guests walking through as they go upstairs to their rooms. seating is often limited in the retro-furnished lobby, but the lively atmosphere more than makes up for it.

Bring a fully charged MacBook pro and wear a second tier liberal arts college sweatshirt to brunch (Yale or Columbia). Also be prepared to use your elbows defending shared couch space. Maybe bring a megaphone for attracting a server. Have a food allergy? Being an extra epi pen (thank me later).

It's an Ace. What do you expect? Hip decor and crowd with a nice hang out spot in the lobby that is sure to have interesting people and maybe a celebrity.

One side faces the Empire State Building. There's a Stumptown in the lobby as well as a bar, restaurant, and a few local shops.

The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable, but not luxurious. It's more like your own apartment that you have done just right.

Beware the food and drinks in the room though... they're extremely pricey.

Also, there's no microwave so be careful what you bring back as leftovers.

Went to a book signing at The Ace Hotel. Enjoyed the event immensely. The hotel lobby is a hip hang out spot. It was extremely busy on the night I was there -- a Friday night in May. I would probably not hang out there, though. Not really my sort of hang out place -- for that very reason.

Hotels location was fab we flew in Newark and took train to Penn station and just walked across road to hotel, so handy .
Checked in before time no problem and I did like the security you had to pass thro to get to lifts . We felt safer this way . Had no problem with room we didn't come to NYC to spent a lot of time in room . Cleaned every day our room was v quiet we weren't to the front which helped ..
Would defiantly come back to this hotel as it 7 min walk to time sq. and 2 min walk to Macy's 30 seconds to Penn station and 5 mins to Empire State . Subway at door take you to 9/11 .
What more could you want .

I was only here for drinks, but the bar and lounge areas were fine to spend a few hours. Drinks are more expensive than regular bars. The lobby area is really dark so I wouldn't hang out there outside of late night drinking.

Whenever I want to feel like a big shot creative type, I head for the lobby of the ace hotel (and crucially the stumptown adjoining). The dim lighting, the couches, the shared table, whip out your most stylish laptop, look busy or pondering and enjoy the ambiance. Also, try the toilets, first class, would again!

One of the best spots to freelance in the city. Blazing Wifi, excellent amount of outlets, nice tables, full bar in the back for when things are dull and most importantly, essentially all day coffee availability from Stumptown and the ACE bar.

Fun decor, but they mistakenly put a $54 minibar charge on my check. They corrected the charge after I called and emailed twice. Also, the doors are not very well soundproofed, so it's hard to sleep if you're in an area that is heavily trafficked at night (e.g. second floor).
