Difficult to review, as the Neuro medium care prior to ICU entry was next to useless (1 STAR), no treatment given other than paracetamol and no real preventative measures taken for 2 days. Resulting 14 day ICU stay was 5 star and excellent (although one of the older nurses was a horror). Return to medium care unit was much better than previous stay so a 4 star.

Overall a very good hospital, they just need to think a little outside of the box and observe the patient more to be brilliant.

Unprofessional and amateurish club. My girlfriend hung on a silk thread after an operation by these oelewappers. An exception was the head surgeon, but of course he can not do everything on his own. A hospital that has more status than good care. The employees get better food than the patients. Employees do not listen to what you say and do not think for themselves. The Martini hospital seems to be better, but no experience with it.

Top hospital, well organized, flexible, good doctors, free drinks in the waiting room. Very good nursing. Very friendly staff. Downside is the food, but it could also be because I was nauseous.

Of course it is simply not possible to review an entire hospital, but in general I am very satisfied with my treatments in the hospital. Very nice staff (nurses, anaesthesiologists, surgeons, etc. Almost everyone is very nice). They also usually provide good care with a lot of attention to your problems. The electronic patient file is modern and works well in general. At home you can also open your file and see all documents that have been sent (with secure 2FA login).

It is impossible to review a hospital in its entirety, but my experiences have been very good. All people (surgeons, nurses, anestheologists, etc) were incredibly nice and clear in communication. The UMCG is an academic hospital, which means they provide professional care. They also have an electronic patient record, that is accessible at home with all files & documents regarding your past and upcoming treatments. It is also secured with a 2-factor authentication login, so you know it is secure.

The Dutch Cystic Fibriosis Foundation finances animal experiments with mice. For example, research is subsidized from UMC Groningen to gastrointestinal problems that occur in Cystic Fibriosis patients. For this research, experiments will be carried out on special types of mice with Cystic Fibriosis.24

A nice, professional hospital with warm people who work here.
Are from very general to highly skilled in specialized fields.
A lot is possible in consultation with the staff, otherwise it is well explained why it is not possible.

During a visit to Groningen I injured my back and could barely walk or move. I went to the ER and was treated like a hypochondriac! Never in my life have I been treated as rudely and disrespectfully as I was in that ER. Horrible experience!

New hip placed with my wife.

New hip placed with my wife.
Because recovery surgery, because of persistent pain, was not possible as this would be a very dangerous operation with the chance that the hip would function even worse than was the case now, she walked through it for 1.5 years, until she it went wrong so that we reported to us at the Maartje Clinic in Nijmegen.
There was told that a recovery operation was not a problem, so got a new hip there, with the result that she started walking better and that there is no more pain.
In my view, the UMCG Orthopedics Department, just because of the megalomaniacal behavior of some doctors, is not the right place for PhD students to learn the profession, let alone that you surrender to the tinkering on the operating table.
