I am writing this review in the hope that fine arts students who consider attending this art school will not do it after reading this review. I myself moved from Amsterdam to Maastricht to study autonomous visual arts at this academy. However, I was soon confronted with the narrow-mindedness and unprofessionalism of the organization and some teachers. Unfortunately, I am not the only one who feels that way about the academy. In my year, four students dropped out before the end of the academic year. That is really a waste of your time.
- Communication: Erik de Jong, my SLB 'there was unreachable. If I had a question or encountered something, I would send him emails, but there was almost never an answer.
- Level: This is of course a sensitive topic and I am not claiming to be more capable than others of assessing talent, but when I met many fellow students at the beginning of my year and looked at their works, I was sincerely at more than half of my fellow students are surprised they were admitted. After a while it became clear to me why they had been admitted; they have completed prior education (in the area), which means that you more or less do not have to pass admission before the study starts. I think this is a huge downfall for the quality of the education, because it is very important to be surrounded by other students with interesting ideas. It's not really stimulating if half of your class is made up of students who have no talent.
All in all, I would strongly advise against this academy to potential students. Your study years are precious and fly by in no time.

Very nice teachers and got a good impression of the study at the open day. However, the training is poorly organized, causing much confusion and frustration. Unfortunately not what I expected.
