Had lunch here for the first time after hearing about it for a while, and we definitely weren't disappointed! Walking in we see nice decor and the smell of incense. We order a couple of entrees and 2 mains, one chicken and one palak paneer (cubed cheese in spinach sauce) and one side of garlic naan and some rice. We were so full we had to take some food home and unfortunately had no room for dessert! They do a combination of traditional and western desserts which we must try next time! The waiter was very attentive and the food was excellent. Learning they have private function rooms are a bonus, for future big parties. Hands down one of the best Indian restaurants in Sydney!

i went this week for dinner with me and my family and i was excepting better service from this restaurant as compared to other Harris park Indian restaurants. Anyway, this manger was so rude and disrespectful. whenever we were asking him for anything, he was not at all accommodating, he was like, i cant do that, we can't do this bla bla.... i believe he have a lot of attitude problem, but let me tell you mate, we came to enjoy the food not to see your weird attitude over there. Even at the time of checkout, while i was paying he was making weird face and that made me really uncomfortable. anyway never going back again.

So scrumptious! I just ate at Urban Tadka and the food is super tasty. The meat cooked to perfection fell apart in my mouth.
The staff are all exceptional and very helpful.
I'll be back!!!

Ohhh, and great all round for functions!
I attended a kids party here and the grounds are perfect to add whatever you'd like.

Kids Mantra supplied a jumping castle, video games and an entertainer filling the space with non-stop bubbles.

Highly recommended for an intimate meal or a function. Check it out!!!

I gave this place a 5 star only because you can t give it a 6. It deserves a 10! We drove from the Central Coast to eat here, but I would drive a lot further now I know how good it is. Indian flavours that I have never tasted before.Superb, fresh cuisine, delivered quickly and at a reasonable price. I couldn t fault this restaurant.
Absolutely brilliant. Can t wait to come again.

Located in Terrey Hills, Urban Tadka is what we would describe as fine dining Indian. If you re from the Eastern Suburbs like us or anywhere on the southern side of the Harbour Bridge, you ll almost need your passport and a VISA for the journey. If you love Indian food and curries, it is well worth travelling for. You ll need a car to get here and as you travel through Terrey Hills, follow the directions closely and you ll pull into a large car park and on this huge site amongst a few galleries is Urban Tadka.

Be sure to ring and book ahead as when we were there it was almost full and we also know they do lots of weddings and also have a huge catering business.

The restaurant is more a venue than simply a restaurant, it is in a lovely bush setting, it has a huge outdoor space, plenty of room indoors for dining, a large bar with a cushioned couch area and a function space.

The food can be described as authentic Indian with a modern twist. Food is plated beautifully and popping with colour and cooked with a diversity of flavours and spices. Cooked in a variety of methods; smoked, slow cooked and wok tossed.

We began with papadums and a 3 dip colourful platter of tomato/onion dip (kachumber), salsa and beetroot yoghurt A great started to prepare you for the culinary adventure ahead.

The Mahararja Kebab Platter was recommended and like its name, this amazing tandoor mixed meat dish fit for a King. This dish was served on a cool home made display stand, crafted from copper pipe. The meats all tender and juicy with a good amount of spice;
The lamb cutlets - flavoured with garlic, ginger, yoghurt and tandoori spices (Adraki Champein)
The Tandoori smoked shelled prawns, garlic and spices (Zatar Lasooni Jhinga).
The (Donalli Seekh Hazaarvi) a kebab meat roll of chicken and lamb mince, rolled with herbs and spices
The chicken tandoori fillets (Murgh de Tikka kararee)
Sitting on the bottom of the frame was the tandoori marinated barramundi fillets with ginger, lemon, dukkah and garum masala (Dukkah machi Patrani).

There was a good range of mains to choose from including chicken, lamb, pork and seafood options as well as vegetarian selections. This making for a tough decision, best to go for a banquet if dining in a group.

It is pretty much obligatory to order a curry, The Kesari Lamb sufiyana - made with tender slow cooked pieces of lamb in a beautifully rich creamy cashew sauce with mace and cardamom. The curry sauce has a nice sweetness and a good spice kick.

The show stopper, as extravagant as a Bollywood block buster, was the Urban Agari Lobster - the sweet lobster meat wok tossed in a pan with a combination of special spices and ingredients that are aromatic and compliment the sweetness of the lobster. Presented nicely with the shell of the lobster tail. It was incredibly flavorful, so much so, there was not a skerrick of sauce left on the plate.

You couldn t be at an Indian restaurant and not have some naan. We had the cheese naan and ordered a serve of basmati jeera rice, for mopping up the tasty curries and sauces. Urban tadka also sell biryani and roti.

If you re here in a large group, the Banquet Dawat would be great, for $49.90 pp, you receive the Papadums, dips, 5 entrees, 4 mains, breads, rice and dessert. For $60.90, they add in an extra entree and main. Dawat means a festive or joyous meal, and the food here is certainly something that will provide that.

The meal finishing with another highlight, the Dessert platter with Chocolate, Mango and a stunning pistachio kulfi.

There was also the Mango mousse cake with coconut, cream cheese and raspberry, so light and fluffy and not overly sweet.

Another light dessert on the platter was the chololate and pistachio mouse served as a dome with a light green glaze. This dessert was nice and airy, perfect to follow the rich spicy food we enjoyed beforehand.

The platter also including the Urban Tadka version of the Black Forest cake served on a crisp chocolate biscuit base of cereal.

The ambience is perfect at this place , would give 5 stars for it

We however went for Valentine's day with our 5 year old. The menu was set and was pretty average taste and portion size wise. Considering it was $65 per adult didn't get the variety or taste expected

To top it up, kid was charged $35 and which didn't include even a orange juice or was given any separate mains or any separate dessert.
Staff didn't know what to about kids menu and couldn't answer any questions on pricing of the menu for them.

In a nutshell go to this place on "non-special" days and without kids.

Wouldn't ever go for Valentine's despite the fact that we love the ambience so much and considering its fair bit of drive as well !!

Very poor service and we waited for over an hour for our entree and then only got part of it. The food was good, when it arrived. We had to remind them of our main meal. The manager did say they were busy and apologised but being a Saturday, there should have been more staff in the kitchen to cope. After all that they made a mistake on the bill by overcharging.... all in all a poor experience.

Was blown away by this recent find. Indian is my favourite and after years of searching for a 'good' Indian in Sydney I've not only found one, but also found a new favourite restaurant! The venue is not your typical white table cloth daggy decor type place either. The design, furnishings and lighting have all been well thought out and make for a stunning evening setting. We went on a Saturday night and the place had a great atmosphere. All the dishes were to die for, and decent portions. Looking forward to working our way through the menu and coming back with friends!

We came with family on 26 Jan for a dinner. I was shocked with the worst service ever. We were coming there from last 10 years but last evening was really a bad experience.
With the drinks, I had a hot mango lassi and tasteless lemon lime bitters in which I can only taste of bitter that's it.
On the way more with entrees I had cold mix platter which I asked to replace and it took them more than half hour to do. With mains, I had a curry taste worst than ready to eat.
I reecon everyone not to visit this restaurant ever, I think they sold it to someone and loose the taste they had before.
I came from blacktown all the way and with prepaid booked table, I got a crowded environment definitely not a fine dine and my family had a good posioning.
If anyone had a doubt visit there and get a bad experienced evening.

My booking prepaid and was on 14 January first and then we changed to 26 January at 7.30, we came sit on window table near to reception. You can check and I took the mostly dinner at home as take away and doc said food posioing happened from that food.so I am sure about it.
I asked to other customers to be careful before they come Boz that's why I put my review. They decide themselves I just put up my suggestion.

We visited Urban Tadka like half a month ago for my birthday celebration. We went there on Saturday without booking a table. The staff on the desk was actually helpful in getting us a table. The food was awesome and mouthwatering. The environment of this restaurant was actually so cozy. Thank you guys for such an amazing service

We used to really enjoy coming here, but recently they are too busy with their catering side of the business which means their quality has dropped and their customer service is appalling.
Everything was too difficult for the waitress and they push you to order more and if you say no you just get them rolling their eyes.
It really was not a pleasant experience there were four adults dining and we all felt the same way. Also we went on a weekday and dined early, so they weren't busy at all.
Definitely won't be going back with such attitude.

Karen and I would highly recommend Urban Tadka catering!! Dimpy Singh provided us with an exceptional customer experience and was very prompt in replying to all of the questions we had. Dimpy helped us create a traditional yet contemporary menu for our wedding reception. Thinking back to the menu makes our mouth water! The presentation of the food was out of this world and till date our guests speak very highly of Urban Tadka. Thank you to Dimpy and team for the most beautifully presented and delicious food!!

the service is poor. Slow in delivery of food and inconsistent. It took more than two hours before we get fed. The dessert has no spice only sweetness. It should not be called fine dining restaurant because it doesn t meet the service standards , facilities and ambiance.

Every now and then, you discover a restaurant that just excels above and beyond in service, presentation, quality of food and ambiance... Urban Tadka is one of those rare places. From the moment I arrived, I entered a journey where I was impressed at every stage of my dining experience. Here, you ll find Indian dishes with a refreshing difference, plus all the favourites.

We had a function at the venue for 150 guests.
The quality of food was superb - all guests enjoyed it. The food was served from 2.30pm until 10.30pm.
The overall set-up was great and the continuing support from the owners and staff of Urban Tadka was commendable.
I would recommend this place not just for great food but also for functions. Everything was like clockwork.
Keep up the great work and a big Thank You !!!

I would not suggest this place. I was planning to have a dinner with my friends and i called them to book a table. We were 16 adults altogether and they told us that if we are more than 6 people than it is compulsory to have banquets and also there were $100 booking charges. Unfortunately i have to change the restaurant as i would like to eat what i want and not what they have prepared in bulk for banquets.
Not recommended at all.

This is a special review as they helped me in a difficult situation. I flew in late, arrived at the hotel and there was nowhere willing to deliver. I phoned Urban Tadka and explained and although the kitchen had closed they helped me out. The place has great ambience and the food was also amazing. This is the definition of customer service. Well done!!

great ambience and atmosphere. Wasnt cluttered, crowded and the food quality was great.
Location wise 0 because for sydney siders its a bit of a drive up to Mona Vale. The quantity needs improvement as you'd expect something extra after that 40 mins of a drive.
Great for parties and large gatherings. Food is somewhat similar to Pakistani cuisine if you arent looking for that extra spice factor.

Overrated. Bad service. Had to wait 25 mins for an order in the middle of our dinner... decided to leave after that much wait... So could not finish our dinner... kudos to the managers for stopping us from leaving first(so we wait for another hour or so, no thanks) and then not letting us pay the bill(because of what happened)... All that took another 20 minutes(so we hadn't eaten for 45 mins after abruptly stopping our dinner with a 40 min drive ahead). Also... the restaurant is not a walk in and have to book a table with no of persons specified... so they knew exactly how many people are going to be dining in the restaurant in total... but still can't manage a table of 5? But, hey don't break it, if it's working eh? Not coming back though.

The staff was really rude except some plus in the middle of the food the manager comes up and asks us to fill up some details which can also be filled up first or at the last but no.. he was smart enough to interrupt us in the middle of our meal... moreover a staff member and the manager was lacking basic manners and was in a hurry to pick up the plates which we were still eating which was unacceptable. But the food was amazing kudos to the chef.

Beautiful food, good service, lovely atmosphere and our 12 year old was safely able to run around.
The ladies bathrooms are NOT fine dinning quality, as my poor finger will attest as I managed to jam in in the door that doesn t close properly!

This was my second time at Urban Tadka and it will be the last. We had group of 6 and had issues from entrees through to the mains. We were constantly waiting for food and quality wasn t there. We approached the floor staff to ask about our mains. We got rude manager come and tell us that entrees were placed at this time and mains are usually this long after. We had 6 month old baby and wanted to enjoy our food and leave. We were seated at 7pm, we ordered at 7:15, our mains got to us after 9pm. Very disappointing, the food was not the same quality as the first time.

The vibe of restaurant is gone now. We used to go to this restaurant for many years but 1st time we felt that we were not welcomed at all. Manager pointed at the table and asked to sit there.

No smile , no welcome nothing. He also gave 1 menu between 3 people. No coordination between waiters, managers and other people. They kept coming and kept asking for drinks. Don't you guys speak with each other.

Menu is changed and food too. Food presentation was bad. We used to come here mainly because of great food presentation and great taste. Both of them are gone. Manager was not at all welcoming and behaving like he was doing favour by asking for food.

Our birthday dinner was completely ruined. I am not gonna go again for sure. And also does not recommend to anyone now.

I would recommend them to go and learn some basic hospitality and customer service.
