They cram work in to the kids brains and give way to much work
The people in the front desk are very friendly and cooperative. They care for the students well-being. The teacher are always open for questions and most of them try to make the class engaging. Students are taught what's on the curriculum and beyond.
For a time where we have to turn to remote learning, ABC Math excelled in their delivery. The school made sure my child was consistently engaged and challenged by the material. Her TA, Cliare was very knowledgeable and kind. Overall, a great summer school.
This place is awesome!!! The summer camp is great and they give prizes to you if you get good grades! The front desk is VERY friendly and the tutors are also really nice.
i ve been here since third grade... because i m asian, my parents think this prep would help me. all it is is just another school that gives you work from online when you can do it at home yourselves. the only teacher that would probably teach me something is mr.kennedy, mr.wizberki? (forgot his name lol) and mr.caposoo. they are great people, they teach students who actually want to learn, not be there on their phones. out of the other teachers i ve had, these three were probably the best ones? honestly it just sucks...
The teachers and TAs were very nice and cooperative. They were always there to help whenever I had a question. Definitely the place to go to improve grades and SAT scores
Teachers are terrible and sometimes did a few questions wrong
I've been here since the 7th grade and I can definitely say this place has made an impact on my education. When I first came here, I didn't quite understand the material as well as some of the other students who have been there longer, but the teachers and TAs were all very knowledgable and were more than willing to help when I was confused. The practice exams for the SHSAT and the SAT helped me immensely with time management, and I got great scores on both of the actual tests. Besides improving my scores, ABCMath also taught me to be more inquisitive and trained me to have a better work ethics.
They teach the material a few days ahead of when most teachers cover it, so you re well prepared for the more difficult concepts, which is super helpful for subjects you struggle with.
My ela improved a lot. From 4.32 to full score for state exam.
I ve been at ABCmath for many years and it s really helped. The classes prepared me well for my classes and I ve used a lot of the math concepts in competition math before. I ve enjoyed my time during classes with the teachers and TAs who are all amazing students and educators themselves. All in all a great experience.
Update:
I received a likely letter from Cornell! I would love to thank ABCmath for their contribution to my collegiate success!
I attribute a lot of my success to this place. The work they gave exposed me to a lot of topics and concepts before I was introduced to them in classes. Since I had already seen the material, it was easier for me to understand what was going on in class and allowed to me grasp a deeper understanding. Overall, a great place to promote education and achievement and development.
They give too munch homework and their do higher math like if your in 5th you go do 6th grade math
One thing I liked about this place is the teachers and the curriculum that they teach. For example, in the SHSAT course, the teachers would teach difficult topics to prepare students for the SHSAT. In this way, students would overestimate the difficulty of the SHSAT when in reality, it is not. Also, the teachers are outstanding in the field they teach. Furthermore, the TAs at this place create a welcoming environment at this place, offering tutoring sessions after class.
I have attended ABCMath for many years. Now, it is more than just a prep school to me. Yes, it definitely helped build strong foundations for my success, both in and outside of school. But ABCMath is unique in that it feels like a family. The teachers, faculty, and TAs are all intelligent and highly competent, but on top of that they are sympathetic and care deeply about my goals and future.
Wow just amazing. Best tutoring place Ive been to. I used to go to Mega but this place has much better teachers with a much cleaner learning enviorment. I learned so much in this place and I excelled in my regular school (Stuyvesant) because of this prep place.
Words cant even describe how much i hate this place. This place is a business and its something that most adults don't understand. They want your money of course its going to look good when they give you a tour and introduce. In reality its not going to help you its not only expensive but they give you work that's too off of your learning. They give you work that your probably not going to learn in school. Its not going to boost your grades its going to give you a hard time. Its going to give you depression wasting your valuable rest time from school on weekends or weekdays. You wont understand the struggle until you have been there. Its sad to hear in this reality's people waste thousands of dollars in their hard earned paycheck just for this place to eat it up. Its going to give you a different point of view of school coming here its going to make you think about dropping out and nobody wants that. Overall if your thinking about boosting your grades find a good private tutor or use your schools resource's a lot of times they give tutoring. I'm telling you right now its going to cost less or the same with better results.
Going to ABCMath in 9th and 10th grade really helped me get ahead in my classes at Stuyvesant. I often found myself already knowing the material that was being taught in school since I learned it at ABCMath. The teachers are engaging and present information in a creative and informative way. Additionally, the TAs are there for the students to offer guidance, help, and advice. Highly recommend attending this place!
They give too much homework, the math questions are usually beyond grade level, and the teachers don t seem to like their jobs and doesn t explain everything clearly
ABCMath has always helped me stay at the top of my actual school classes. By teaching and preparing students with material above their grade level, students know what to expect and can more easily grasp the concepts taught in school. Not only this, but the teachers, teacher assistants, and other staff are easy to get along with. As long as one has the mindset to learn new things and work hard, ABCMath is the place to be.
Really great place for those interested in preforming well in school or on the SAT. Most of the teachers are nice and willing to spend time to help students understand hard concepts such as Chemistry or Physics.
ABCMath is a great tutoring service. I've been here since 4th grade, and it's helped me get into special high and NYU. In the elementary/middle school, the curriculum is 2-3 years ahead of the DOE curriculum, while the high school curriculum caters towards the SAT subject tests and AP exams rather than the state exams. There is a lot of homework, but it helps you prepare for the pacing you'll need for exams. The teachers have years of experience in both city schools and ABCMath and effectively teach at the accelerated pace. The staff is very friendly and takes the time to get to know each student, and will call home if the child is absent or just to check up on them. ABCMath is like a big family: students make friends with each other and the staff, and many return semester after semester.
Highly recommend this place. Prepares you really well for what you will learn in regular school before you learn it. They also teach you more advance stuff just to expose you to the upper echelons of academia. The free tutoring before and after class, as well as on Tuesdays are a plus too. Super knowledgeable teachers and TAs, overall fantastic experience.
I went here as a student during my elementary and middle school years. It was hard to begin with because of the expectations that the staff placed on us. However, as the years passed and I became comfortable with the rigor, it really helped me stand out amongst my peers in school.
I was always ahead of other students in my grade and they eventually prepared for the SHSAT and the SAT. I was able to score high on both exams.
The teachers are experienced and willing to help. However, you still need to put in effort for combined success. I highly recommend this academy for those who are aiming to challenge themselves academically.
Let s start with the conclusion: education is an investment in the future and ABCMath is the best institution to do this investment. It offers affordable education and comprehensive curriculums for students seeking self-improvement and academic advancement.
A few years ago, I was looking for a prep school for my boy simply his regular schooling was just not enough. In comparison to the rigorous programs studied across Asian and European public schools, many public schools in New York City can only provide basic academic instructions. No one left behind eventually became everyone left behind.
ABCMath provides a solution to my problem. Its well-designed materials challenge my boy regularly. ABCMath materials are generally more advanced and difficult than school stuff. However, just because some people in DOE decide to put algebra in an 8th-grade curriculum, it doesn t mean students should wait until they are in 8th grade to learn the math. ABCMath gives students the opportunity to test their mental capacities ahead of time.
While in elementary school where one teacher teaching students four or five different subjects, in ABCMath different subjects are taught by different instructors. It may sound common, but not many prep schools are capable of this. I have personally met and talked to some of the teachers and all of them are graceful, well-manned, and incredibly knowledgeable in their field of teaching. This organic combination of experienced teachers and thoughtful materials helped my child to establish a solid academic foundation.
I ve been going to this school for a while and there staff have really help me with math and I like that they give you a ton of homework but there English course Sucks. For the few years I ve been going here I ve notice that the students really suck at English and don t really get any better at it. The school doesn t work on writing anymore and the reading and reading comprehension of the students is just bad. I ve also notice that some of the students hide there vocab sheets under there desks and the teacher didn t even notice almost everyday he would just complain about how hot the weather is but then be excited about going to the Bahamas where it s like 40 degrees Celsius. There Shsat test is just going to help the students with math and that s it and when we review the test with the ta he could only help us with the math part not the English part because it was all reading comprehension. I also notice most of the students scores suffered in English. Btw one of the teachers influenced her opinion to the students on politics, I don t think they should be doing that. I know my review got a little off topic but all in all if you want to get better at math come here.
Really enjoyed going here both for prep and summer school. I would say that going here gave me enough knowledge and changed the way I thought about things.
The knowledge gained from ABCMath really helped me to excel in the classes that I had in school. The assignments are really helpful and is most definitely worth the money spent.
It was a school that just jammed things into your brain. The teachers were nice but the teacher assistants were not.
Staff was welcoming and were very receptive to questions. The only downside was that sometimes there was alot of hw given, although it could be handled with proper time management.
I've been attending here since third grade. The material taught here, which is sometimes accelerated for our benefit, definitely helped me achieve the high grades I had in regular school. Their SAT courses helped me get above 1500 on the SAT I and above 700 on the SAT IIs. Like others said, Mr. Liu really opened my eyes to new methods of tackling math problems that I myself would have never thought of. I definitely recommend this place with its helpful TAs and its caring teachers.
The TA are really good my son had Raymond Zhou, Winson Chen and Rachel Huang. They are some amazing TAs.
ABCMATH is probably the best thing that's ever happened to me. I went to ABCMATH since the third grade and genuinely think that that's the only reason I made my way into Stuyvesant. Not only are the teachers helpful and knowledgeable, but they also take the extra step to help you with other aspects of life! Because of this prep center, I actually understand math and can write a good essay! ABCMATH is a great community and I've made some of my closest friends there.
Abcmath Academy is really helpful. They align the topics they teach with what the students are learning in school, so students will be prepared for it when their school teaches it. All of the teachers at Abcmath are engaging and informative. They also have a free tutoring service before and after class in case any student has lingering questions.
ABCMath is one of the greatest learning institutions in the city, and my achievements now can certainly be traced back to my earlier years here. All prep schools are the same in that they help you understand the material, but the secret ABCMath's continuous success is their ability to instill important attributes in their students. Not only do they become more diligent in their studies, kids here become more aware of their own potential for greatness.
Thing is so bad it takes your money and teaches you the things that you already learned to things that you are going to learn after 2 years it is a scam i do not recommend to go there. My brother went there for the whole summer and he barely learned anything he got super stressed and tired everyday he came home.
I love this place! ABCMath has helped prepare me for all my difficult classes and tests. The teachers are fun, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable. The TA s are also really handsome and are always willing to help! Definitely come here if you want your child to do well in his/her academics!
I can only describe ABCmath as amazing. I've been here since 7th grade, and the amount of things I've learned from Abcmath is crazy. While I ended up going to Townsend, I excelled on the SHSAT and that gave me the freedom to choose what high school I wanted to go to. And in Townsend, ABCmath was still a tremendous help. I took their math and science courses over the summer, and upon learning the stuff in school the following school year, things were so easy!! But be prepared to put in the work. Yes, ABCmath gives a lot of work and the teacher teaches advanced topics, but all the TAs were super helpful and clarified all questions I had. You must put in the work!!! I can't stress this enough. The things they teach is hard and advanced, and the amount of homework they give can become daunting at times. But if you put in the work and do all the homework, you'll find yourself slowly accumulating and realize how much you know when the topic is taught in school. I excelled in all my classes and the SATs thanks to the summers I spent at ABCmath. I do not regret the summers I spent practicing!!! I'm going to Cornell Dyson next year and I cannot stress enough how crucial ABCmath was in helping me reach my dream school. I'm forever thankful to them and all that they have taught me over the years. Simply an outstanding establishment!!
I've taken various classes at ABC Math throughout high school. Although some other reviews claim that ABC's teaching method is inefficient and abrasive, I couldn't disagree more. As long as you're focused and willing to learn, your performance in school will improve. That is the important part - prep schools aren't supposed to be crazy places that somehow magically raise your GPA from a 1.2 to a 4.0. If you want to see results, you need to put in the work.
Some of my most memorable times here came from taking the summer SAT preparation course. It lasted for about 6 weeks, and provided a combination of lessons and practice tests. ABC math's curriculum ultimately helped me score a 1580 with only one question wrong on the entire test - a score I do not believe I would have attained without it. I put time trying to do every homework, tried hard on every test, and asked lots of questions. The TA's are always knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly.
All in all, ABC math is a great place to go if you're prepared to work hard and become a better student.
This school taught me many concepts that I would learn later on in my actual school, making these concepts easier to understand when I learn them the second time. Also they provide many opportunities to help their students like extra tutoring sessions before and after class as well as every Tuesdays. Also the TA's are amazing!
Abcmath is a great tutoring place. Although the courses taught are very difficult and very ahead of the normal school curriculum, the TA s and teachers are always willing to help out if you stay after class or need the help. It prepared me very well for my classes at Stuyvesant High school. They prepared me very well for the SAT and I got a 1550+ on it.
this school is really bad. they teach you things that are not in our grade curicculumn. i get that they are trying to help, but help is not jamming things in your head and not teaching a lesson thoroughly. then we get a bad grade and they call your parents...well whos fault was that? not we help the fact that we are stupid. but the fault is not ours. we were the students being teached, but not just teached, we were teached unproperly.
One of the best prep places in Flushing. It has a high academic standard, but it definitely helps in the long run. The teachers really care about the students, and they genuinely want to help. The TAs are friendly and always willing to help with any questions. They also have intensive courses to prep for SAT subject tests, which were extremely helpful.
its the worst place ever and it stresses you so much you won't understand. This place is like a casino they give you hard work at first because they know you wouldn't understand it so you end up failing poorly, what happens next is they ask you to sign up next semester again because they want to convince your kid that their doing very poorly and will fail in school. After that they convince and persuade you someway for you to sign up again with some other excuse and that already is three semesters with thousands of dollars spent. Hats not it the money turns into nothing like for real its not gonna improve your grade it puts stress and depression. It makes parents desperate to have their kids sign up in case they fail next semester which they wont because with hard work in the classroom theirs no reason for them to get anything lower than the B.This place teaches things that you probably wouldn't learn until 2-3 years after like all that stress inst going to get you anywhere.Kids their most of the time are either on their phones or sleeping kids can't handle it
Going to ABCMath allowed for me to stay ahead of the challenging curriculum that I was taught at Stuyvesant, and gave me a more in-depth understanding of each of the topics we learned in class. The teachers always encouraged us to ask questions, whether it was about the coursework we were given there or the homework we were assigned for school, and working with the TAs one on one helped me tremendously when it came to specific problems that gave me trouble. Highly recommend!
Before I enrolled in ABCMath, I was getting bad grades and I was overall a slacker. When my mom enrolled me into ABCMath, the amount of work they gave us did stress me out but did turn me into a better student than I was in the past year. My grades improved greatly, I learn to get my work done, etc. The TAs there are extremely nice and are always willing to help with you anything you need.
Challenging curriculum and dedicated teachers and staff care about students success! Also super nice teacher assistants!!! I ve been here since fourth grade and this prep class has kept up with me for eight years. The principals genuinely care about all of their students and remembers almost all of the many students specifics. Would definitely recommend!
This school is very dumb and the teachers teach you advanced things and they never explain it well to you. They teach you high school stuff when you just start middle school and they don t really help you.
Ok so this was my first prep place and it was really fun. It was an absolute pleasure to attend Abcmath, it really helped with my studies and improved my grades. The staff is nice, most of the teachers are as well. I highly recommend it for those who would love to learn more and have a good time as well.
Sure, this place is good for learning. But half of the time, they teach something that is something you will learn in two more grades. I had been there for 6th grade and they are talking about how to do funtions. They give you tutoring before and after school for 30 minutes but it is too less time for something that takes 10+ minutes to do each question. Overall, the teachers and TAs are very nice and helpful and it is a good place to learn your ELA and math.
ABCMath is great place to learn. They are providing excellent classes even during the pandemics. Teachers and TAs are avalible for help at any time.
(Someone give Mr.Kennedy a raise.) Great school,
i'm not gonna lie, I'm really glad I switched from MEGA to here. ELA skills have improved a ton because of this place. The school offered a lot of extra help when I struggled in chemistry.
ABCMath institute is where I acquired materials and information, from academics to future institutional expectations, that became the backbone of my knowledge throughout my junior high school and highschool years. The SAT and SAT II test preparation courses allowed me to score beyond my expectations because the professors unravel each aspect of the question to give me a complete understanding of the reason behind an answer. The teachers take the extra steps to connect with each individiual student and create an educational atmosphere that allows students to have a well rounded understanding of the academic scene. The teacher assistants are individuals that come from reputable high schools with considerable understanding of ranging academic fields and seeks to solve any unanswered questions. Since I started In the 3rd grade, I became a more sociable individual with friendships stretching to Staten Island.
Another school that just wants your money. Don't waste your time with this, during class half the children are on their phones, and the teachers don't care at all. They shove information that's not even relevant down your throats and they make parents pay more in hopes to "help" their child while all that money just gets burned into more useless work and stress. Trust me, 75% of the 5 star reviews here are just asian parents who've been scammed out of their money for years and think that it's ABCMath helping their students, when in reality it's just an establishment to steal your money and to not care about your kids. STAY. AWAY. FROM. HERE.
One of the better tutoring places in Flushing. Been here since 4th grade and although it was intense, it was worth the struggle. Since 3rd, been to EMath, came to ABC during 4th grade summer, went to MEGA for 5th, and came back to ABC for 6th grade and finished the SAT class (11th).
The courses that ABC offers here are highly advanced in consideration to normal public school standards. This achieves many benefits for the student as you are exposed to more knowledge to enrich yourself. In especially the Hunter, SHSAT, and SAT classes, ABC strives to help its students understand the material and succeed through tutoring sessions and extra help with its TA's. The teachers hired are kind and knowledgeable in their respective fields of study. The knowledge gained from ABC is remarkable and well worth the money spent.
A great place for all of your test prep needs! I ve been a student there since the 4th grade and it s helped me immensely with all my tests, especially throughout high school - I couldn t have gotten full scores on all my subject SAT tests without the great teachers (the two hours with Mr. Brennan every week was better than the whole week at school with my real English teacher - his tips and advice got my reading comp skills to a whole new level) and super helpful TAs. Whenever I had a question or need, I could always ask my TA for guidance.
This place is really a place for all people, no matter what place they re at in school. It helps struggling students comprehend the material, but it also encourages excelling students to push their limits. Overall, it s a great prep place that everybody should be going to
My daughter goes to Abcmath, and she is improving. Her math teacher Mr. Jim is really good. The KFC method he taught in the class made dividing fractions so easy for her. Sometimes she got overwhelmed by the work and complains, but she tries to finish it(probably because she knows someone will call me if she doesn t finish her work). Another reason I like this place is that it is always clean, bright, and quiet. I think this is what school should be.
Amazing school to improve your skills, lots of brilliant teachers.
I highly recommend this place for students who actually care. It takes a lot of hard work in order to adapt to the hard curriculum that they practice. For example, as I had an SAT2 exam coming up, I attended a weekly session where we focused solely on SAT2 biology and I went. It was really helpful and I scored an 800. I previously took the same exam but with the Barrons books but I only scored an 710. The teachers are experienced with the exam and having someone to ask for help is really helpful. However, I think the most beneficial aspect of ABCMath was when they taught me how to persevere through difficult subjects.
Don't even go there it's just trash. You barely learn anything, you barely understand anything. Teachers are bad, students just use their phones. It's a waste of time and money, don't ever go there
Quality of instruction is the most important aspect of any test prep academy or school. Knowing that, I am always impressed by the skill and knowledge of the teachers here. They are all fully qualified to teach complex topics to students of any age, but more importantly many of these teachers understand the significance of student engagement. They keep students interested and entertained with the content, which helps the students retain more information. Whether it is for a standardized test or class subjects, I am confident that these teachers prepare students well. I m a clear example of that. I accredit my 800 Bio SAT score to my time spent here.
And, this school operates like a well-oiled machine. They keep very meticulous records of grades and scores on homework, classwork, and practice tests so that students can really visualize their improvement from the beginning of the year to the end. Teacher assistants work with teachers to help each individual student with any questions they may have, so they have the experience of both a classroom education and 1-on-1 instruction. The staff here is very efficient and dedicate themselves to furthering the students education as one of their top priorities.
What is most unique about this school, however, is it s welcoming environment. Many of the students become friends with their classmates and enjoy their time spent here. It doesn t feel like a traditional school in the sense that it rarely feels like a chore.
But like any educational institution, there is a degree of competition present. The environment pushes many students to do better and it isn t toxic at all. If students apply themselves to the homework and classwork, then improvement is guaranteed.
Overall, the product that ABC Math offers is well worth its price because the students experience very clear improvement from before and after studying here.
I was able to score above 700 on my subject tests thanks to ABCMath. The science classes, chemistry, physics, and biology, here really helped me understand the new topics I was learning in school. The math classes are even better. I was amazed with the methods Mr. Liu taught to do problems I couldn't do or took me longer to do. His teachings help me get 800 on the SAT Math II. Highly recommend this place for help!
Another school that just cares about money and nothing else. One of the staff (I believe his name was Jin) has no problem putting his hands on the students there. I remember him grabbing me by the back of the neck when I was enrolled here many years ago because I was talking to his staff member disrespectfully...? First off, it was a misunderstanding because I wasn't talking to him in the first place, secondly, what the hell gives you the right to put your hands on a 10 year old kid. Bare in mind that I was one of the quieter kids who liked to stay out of trouble, so I naturally didn't speak up, knowing that the situation would escalate. The classes are filled with fobs that drown out the teacher during every lesson and the teachers just continue on, as if nothing was happening.
Absolute joke of an establishment, don't bother with this one.
