The staff who take care of you in the ambulance are great - however their billing department is horrific and they want to double-bill you and the insurance company - and if they do not get paid - then they send you to collections
I have worked at Abbott EMS for nearly 15 years. I have always found Abbott to be home. I started out as an EMT on the road and have been afforded opportunities to grow as a care provider. I have been lucky to have Abbott, they have provided me with the ability to work my way up as well. After some period of time I became a crew leader, then on to Operations Supervisor and now Operations Manager. This company truly promotes from within! I have never had a job that I truly "WANTED" to go to like I do at Abbott. It has been my goal to help people, Abbott has afforded that opportunity to me in a variety of ways over the years and I could not be more appreciative of the career they have allowed me to have.

I started my EMS career with Abbott and I learned so much about EMS, Processees and protocols and people. I have always encouraged new EMTS to learn their trade with this company as they offer invaluable training and patient care. From the road crews to maintenance and business development teams, this really is a great company to work for as they really care about their employees. They promote from within, offer continuing education and advancement opportunities.
Just don't work for AMR. They literally do not care at all about their employees and if they don't care about who works for them, then why would they care about you in an emergency? They don't. They care about your money. Period.
I worked here for a year and a half, the supervisors are really understanding and helpful since i have been in and out of the hospital multiple times. You always have someone to go to with personal and/or work issues as well. I recommend working here to all of my friends.
For the guys and gals that helped me get to the hospital where awesome. Very respectful and should be paid well. Are you going to lose them.
Abbott s billing process is horrible. Transported my husband from BJC to Evelyn s House. A letter from them addressed to him came in the mail saying he owed them for transportation. I sent them all the insurance information. Today I get a letter, addressed to him, saying it was a precollection notice and he had not returned their calls, he passed away April 10. This is very upsetting and I am still grieving. A collection notice, not very professional.
Stole my purse and everything in it while I was in a time of crisis. i told them I wanted to go to St Louis University and they purposely took me to Barnes.
Called them looking for my belongings and without checking the woman who answered the phone told me I didn't have my purse with me that day.
I always carry my cross body bag with me. Even my car keys were in the purse. I had to get a new set made.
