About Aarthi Popat
Aarthi Popat is a PhD student in the Psychology Department at Yale University, advised by Julia Leonard and Yarrow Dunham. Her research focuses on how children reason about competence and ability in the context of real-world stereotypes and historic marginalization. She studies the cognitive mechanisms underlying these inferences across the lifespan, including statistical reasoning and causal reasoning. Before Yale, she worked as a lab manager at UCSD and earned her B.A. from Stanford in 2021.
