Didn't care for the food but the root beer float are the bomb
Friendly staff, drive-thru is strange though. Just gotta wait and let them come to you.
And Tuesday's they have buy 1 get 1 free papa combo
Love the food and the service. Love the 2 for Tuesday. Hate the prices. But, they say you get what you pay for. So it worth it.
A&W restaurant in Lodi , great burgers and food always.
Great service and food - glad we stopped off at the original and were able to check out their collectibles too!
Just like it always is. No WOW factor. The best part is the root beer. Fresh made.
Great service. Staff was friendly and made the extra effort to make us feel good. Root beer floats were awesome. Loved all the a&w memorabilia.
I've eaten at LOTS of A&Ws over the years. This one was clean, staff was attentive and food was good. My only complaint was the wait time. Everything else was perfect.
Staff seemed bored. Food is bland, intresting deco though.
One of if not THE original A&W's, this is good as it gets. Still brewing root beer on site, burgers are gteat and fries hold their own even when cold. Chocolate shakes are made with Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate Syrup.
If you're ever driving down 99 and you're a fan of root beer, this is definitely worth the stop. A&W restaurants have the best root beer in my opinion (it's the best of the creamy root beers) and this restaurant, the original, has a draft handle, cooled mugs, and a small museum to enhance the experience. The outside still has a drive in aesthetic (although not functioning). Definitely a good pilgrimage
I absolutely love A&W. I love the root beer of course, but have you tried the cheese curds? They are absolutely yummy!!!!!!!!!!! I definitely recommend eating here, it also has a Pokemon gym if you enjoy Pokemon Go. It's a great place to eat!!!!!!!
A&W drive-in's used to be one of the mainstays of the American road trip, out West. Before every automobile came equipped with air-conditioning, and you were stuck in the back seat of a late 50's model Detroit vehicle, A&W was a godsend. You would see the billboard announcing only 5 more miles to A&W and your suffering in the Summer heat was partially relieved. After the stop, you were in heaven, savoring an ice cold root beer float, or a strawberry freeze, milkshake or malt. This is the A&W with all those famous drinks and a display of historic A&W memorabilia. This place should be on everyone's Bucket List, if you never experienced A&W on the open road. As far as the food goes, stick to the basics; burger, fries, etc.
They always serve fresh hot food! Never have to wait a long time for your food or desserts..great customer serve! Plus It's the orignal A&W in Lodi, Calif..
The godfather of all rootbeer and the service is pretty good as well
At trip down memory lane. The original A&W. Food always fresh and delicious. The root beer floats taste just as delicious as they did when you were a kid.
Great food, smiling and friendly employees,
This place is always busy. And I love that fresh on tap A&W rootbeer. I love telling
people that I live in the town where A&W
root beer was invented.
The original A&W. You can feel the history here. Really good mushroom burger, root beer is great.
Wow.. great food and service. On Tuesday, from 5-630..the place is packed. Still worth the wait.
Last time I came here I didn't leave a great review do to the service but this visit they reappy have stepped up their game. Used the drive through the lady running it was very patient and helpful. Yes the food takes a bit longer but I consider the few extra minutes a fair trade for hot just cooked better tasting food a fair trade . Thanks a&w!
My visit was pretty good but I was kinda upset about seeing some of the workers not washing their hands and picking up fries off the counter and putting them into their bag of fries and pouring a soda into a bigger cup and holding back the soda with the lid and his fingers were touching the ice as he poured it into the other cup,but the service was fast and my food was good.
Been coming here off and on since I was little still the same great taste
The best part is their two for one specials on Tuesdays. The food is okay and at times is very salty. The staff needs to be more friendly and be happy that they have a large turnout of customers on Tuesdays. More engagement with customers and the bell may ring more often!
THIS A&W IS THE ONLY ONE THAT I WILL EVER EAT FOOD FROM! BECAUSE IT'S THE ORIGINAL A&W! THE BEST FOOD EVER!!
Great onion rings to go along with their root beer floats.
A Lodi favorite! The "first" as I grow up knowing, A&W location - not sure if thats accepted fact or not... either way - best root beer in town! Lovely and friendly staff too. Management cares about quality and food temperature and talk to their locals a lot.
Is just in a badd part of town with no place to park just a hassle
Always delicious! Take a trip back in time to great food, giod service and cold rootbeer! Very first A&W, not the original location but thats ok. Not to be confused for the KFC A&W combo resturant, its just not the same. This A&W gets it right. Highly recommended. Get the bacon double as pictured and some cheese curds.
This A&W is an original one, it has the now unused station stalls in the rear parking lot, when many many years ago, people could drive up and order their meals and a car hop would bring it to you! This is a service I well remember as a kid. When I went there July 11, 2017, I had my 91 yr old mother in law with me, post appointment and it was 100*F out. The place was PACKED!! Did not see any hired people over age 30. It was disorganized and tables were sticky from previous customers. Both front counters needed wiping. I ordered 2 root beer floats. One young girl poured root beer continuously, not making eye contact, did not see a hint of a smile, and courtesy on the 3 workers I personally had spoken to were busy, probably understaffed. I understand that if 10 people give orders for meals with their root beers, that the root beers would be poured along WITH the meals. (I was a waitress b4 I was an RN)- but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE if someone orders 2 drinks ONLY, it would be nice to not have to wait over 30 minutes!!! The staff needs training in being organized, and maybe courtesy lessons.....I WILL go back, but not at 4pm with a diabetic 91 yr old. Sorry A&W....
Been going to A&W since the 80s and I try to go often. They're root beer is brewed at the location so it tastes much better than other A & W's.
Always a treat! Love the root beer float. Was very surprised about how good the fish and chip basket is! I will be back for that!
It's always a fun place to relax, eat, and enjoy the music!
The root beer! The cheeseburger and onion rings.
Also, the customer service was amazing.
The food was good, but messy. In the best kind of way! Unfortunately, I cannot give 5 stars because there was not enough ice cream in the root beer floats!
Excellent food and excellent service. Beautiful, romantic, fun night out. Awesome cars and beautiful people
Wonderment and classy, one of a kind, great location, exquisite food, all heathly with weightwatchers in mind,u cant go wrong here ! Something for everyone. I miss the jukebox , the afternoon sun is really annoying, please put up shades ? LIKED
My favorite. During this Covid, the drive up service is quick friendly and efficient by their employees. Food is great and ROOT BEER is the best!
My mom and I decided to try it once and we regretted it ...The food was cold and had no flavor so yeah never setting foot there again.
Drive thru was quick, food was hot. Mini corn dogs were crispy but not overcooked.
First time, I love how they have the store, like in 50s era. Food great!
Great food, love that they have a bell to ring...if you've enjoyed
Decent staff but a tad bit greasy food/sloppy burgers
It was really other than the bottom bunk being a bit soggy, the fries were on point, everything was amazing except that bottom bun
