This is a beautiful Y. The only exceptions to this are the yuppie families with their bratty kids expecting Chuck E Cheese Birthday parties and a heated pool for their infants. Aside from these nuisances, it is the quintessential NY Y experience.

Went for a ceramics class and had a great time. The instructors were friendly and very helpful.

I was also taken aback by the programs they have. There were signs all around promoting many different speakers that they have had or coming in the future. It read like a who's who.

I will defiantly add the 92Y to my list of places to watch.

The 92nd includes what a real building should contains such as different cultural activities, classes and special events to enjoy. As well, the fact that has pool, gym, teacher, wide lobby, terrace, clean rooms and residences is something for the place. Finally the location nearby from Central Park, the boulevard of Lexington Av and subway makes it worth to stay.

Outstanding programming, affordably prices, from classes to events to movies, the list goes on an on. Excellent speaker's program with quality guests and interviewers. And close to subway and some restaurants for pre- post-event meetings.

That said, I have never come across more bureaucratic, unreasonable security guards in my life, and that has completely annihilated every positive thing I have to say about this place. After living here for almost 8 months, I am completely fed up with the constantly changing security policies and power tripping guards. I would rather have to go through the TSA every time I entered and left the building than deal with these guys.

This historically Jewish institution - with an extraordinary history and legacy -- now goes out of its way to book speakers that demonize Jews and demonize Israel. Honest criticism is fine, but telling blatant lies to generate hatred is something else. If Adolf Hitler wrote a novel, the 92nd street Y would invite him to "discuss his novel" as an excuse to let him spout off his racist views and generate ethnic hatred. What has happened to the 92nd Street Y?
