I feel like this place should be doing better than it appears to be doing. The menu feels like its trying to be a fancier then it needs to be (their is also a tangerine theme that i dont quite understand). Beer is pretty good, and environment is pretty nice as well. Hope they step the food up
I have been a few times and enjoy going there...I was very attracted by their "best beer in the world". It was AWESOME the first time i tried it and garbage every time i have had it since.. watery, flat, not the same as it was. I tell my friends how great it was and everyone is let down with the brown when they get there. Dont rest on your laurels.

I couldn't believe how good this place was. Everything was fantastic. The mead and the beer they make there are phenomenal. The prices are reasonable, especially for the quality of the meal. Our waiter was very helpful and very prompt. I will be coming here again, and again, and again..
Beer is good, service is poor, food is middle. They don't offer much of a complex menu, so I think it should impress (for what it is) but the sandwiches are just OK. The service has mostly been slow. The beer is very good. They have a cool thing where you can leave a beer for a friend (you pay for a beer and their name goes on a board, when they come by next, they get that beer) it's very cool.
This has been open for about a year now. The staff is very friendly and the food is good as well but the beers are the best in the area. They do a lot of limited seasonal brews so sometimes they are out but that only makes you want to go back. I think they would benefit from more advertising as a lot of people I've talked to about it had no idea it was even there. If you like good craft brew make sure you check this place out.
I work at the library in Lake Orion so 51 North is super close if I want to go after work. Although their menu is a little pricey the food is delicious! The waitresses are always friendly and even if it is busy they are really on top of anything you need. I usually go for Wednesday night trivia and always have a great time. Their beer selection is good; I especially like their award winning beer and the tangerine wheat. The managers and owner are also very willing to work with organizations in the community and form partnerships. I know I'll keep coming back!
Love this place! Great craft beer...there's always new ones to try. And their food is excellent too. A great sandwich selection. You can tell that they spend a lot of time curating their menu and try to serve things that are unique and high quality. There's live music at night too, which is always fun!
Tonight was my first time trying 51 North Brewing Company. My food was very good, but overpriced. ($10.51 for a turkey sandwich & 5.00 for a kids hot dog meal) The waitress didn't offer me our drinks (I had to ask her to get them & then to bring them) It seemed like forever to get our food. Then after eating, it took forever to get my bill, then forever to pay it. (she walked past my bill about 5 times) I understand that it was a busy dinner time rush, but It should not take 1 1/2 hour for me & my son to eat.
Our group ordered the sprouts for an appetizer, three entrees and a hamburger for food. I personally sampled all of the food and brew served to our table. Most of our food was okay. While the cooks are good and have great ideas, I agree with another reviewer that said the menu is fancier then it needs to be for the setting. I will be ordering a burger again next time.
We drink a lot of brewery style beer and if you like a full body great tasting micro brew beer you will enjoy a visit here. Every brew we tried was very good. I will be making a return visit here for sure.
They also had a real good live band the night we were there.
