Kate Bell Review of Lycée Français de Barcelone

I only know the middle school (college), not the other levels of the school. It's a very large school (9 classes per grade) and follows the French curriculum rigorously, with some bonuses around the way languages are taught. We found the teachers to be professional and dedicated to their work. The director of the middle school is exceptionally good and very easy to reach in case of questions. Administration overall is easy to work with. The language program is particularly interesting at the LFB because they provision for Spanish, Catalan, and English at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels for all grades. The native-level English class was especially valuable for our family, but the ability to take the other languages at a high level was also a huge benefit. The only problems we had at the LFB were during the confinement, when online learning wasn't well-organized. Many parents were infuriated by the lack of coordination, and indeed it was quite a mess, but our kids were at the school for years and received an excellent education in my opinion. A couple of months with poor provisioning online doesn't change that. We've moved back to France now and the children have had no difficulty at all transferring back to the system here. If anything, they're a bit ahead. And the poor language courses here in France make us all miss the LFB!
