I highly recommend Midtown Arts Center if you're looking for a great dinner theater experience. I bought season tickets for the first time over a year ago and have been impressed by the food and the performances, particularly Spamalot, Sweeney Todd, and Miss Saigon. I joined MAC after Les Miserables ran and I have been told by several of my more well-traveled friends that it was the best live version of that play they've seen. MAC manages to attract a surprising amount of talent into its casts considering that Fort Collins is not a major metropolitan area. I've yet to see a show I didn't enjoy.
I figured that the Sweeney Todd show would generate some complaints - the actor/servers deliberately doled out rude (but funny) service to match the ambiance of the performance. If you didn't take it personally, the salty waiters were actually very enjoyable. I understand that that was an experiment and probably not everybody's cup of tea. And that's fine, but I wouldn't let it reflect poorly on MAC as a whole. Most of the shows are more traditional and every once in a while when they decide to take us audience members out of our comfort zones, that's fun too. As for the sales pitches - not much you can do about that. Converting first timers to season ticket holders is how dinner theaters stay in business and attract a higher caliber of actors. Compared to the 20+ minutes of ads and previews I routinely have to sit through whenever I go to the AMC movie theaters, MAC's sales pitches really aren't that bad.
