I love the American Museum of Natural History. They have the best dinosaur exhibit in the world, At least in my opinion. There are always special exhibits. The Hayden Planetarium is next door. You could plan your adventure to go to the museum during the day then go next door to see the planetarium and a star light exciting movie in the evening. Watch the show on the ceiling. Lots of fun. Admission is usually around $25 per adult but you could obtain a discount if you ask the NYC Visitors Bureau or check online. Have fun. Great place to take children.
