This review is for China Kitchen, the restaurant inside the Shangri-La Hotel. We went for the dim sum today. The items are very limited and repetitive in preparation. They use mostly minced or ground shrimp instead of whole/large pieces -- a red flag in the world of dim sum. A lot of the dishes arrived only warm, or worse, room temperature, which is surprising as the dishes are not even stored in a push cart. You order what you'd like (a la carte) and given the wait time, you'd think they were steaming from raw. Most likely the dishes are made far in advance and then stuck in the steamer for little time or no time at all. I mentioned the food temperature issue to one of the waitresses and I was not sure she understood me due to language barrier. Service was also remarkably slow considering it was not busy and there appeared to be abundant staff. Overall a disappointing experience in Chiang Mai.
