I have a lot of thoughts on my stay at Tarrytown. It is absolutely more beautiful there than you can ever imagine. There are squirrels and deer and beautiful grounds to walk. Absolutely, one of the prettiest grounds I ve stayed at in recent memory. However, the have the filthiest tub drain I ve seen even from a motel. For the price of the hotel that was a shock. I found in general the room cleanliness to feel about that of a lower end hotel. The bathroom was grubby around the edges so to speak and little things like that. The sheets were AWFUL. The fitted sheet isn t so fitted so all night we fought to keep it on so we didn t touch a public use mattress. I had to toss all of the sugar in the room as the bottom of the holder had someone s old coffee in the bottom. It just felt a little dirty (especially for COVID time standards).

Additionally, I had a hell of a time getting the rate I booked on the tarrytown website once I arrived at the hotel. I had to show my confirmation three times in order to secure it and it took far too many people to correct a minor error. If it seems wrong ask to see the receipt. Also don t make the same mistake I did: when the checking in STAY until they fix it. I didn t and instead I spent far too long checking out trying to fix what my check in agent swore he d fix. He did not. So check your final receipt!

Additionally, we used a package and despite it being inclusive to the price paid they tried to add 40 bucks as a package fee . It took me being late to work but I was able to iron it out before I left (I hope). But being charged 80 bucks over the rate quoted (and not because of taxes and occupancy fees) was ridiculous for the reputation of the Tarrytown estate. We came on a particularly empty Monday night and despite the fact the hotel was mostly empty I am saddened that my stay was the quality it was. We were set on perhaps holding our wedding here but due to our experience I m saddened I ll have to look elsewhere as the estate is even more beautiful than I ever could have imagined.
