Sunil V Review of Sierra Cartel

This is not the kind of review I like to write, but in this case I will make an exception. I don't want anyone else moving in at Sierra Cartel Co - Working spaces, to experience the same situation I had to go through. I was a tenant at Sierra Cartel HSR layout for 1.5 years from June 2016 to December 2017. I had given an advance of Rs.45000 and a rent of 15000 p/m was agreed upon, to occupy a small cabin. At the time of occupation, I was told that the advance shall be forfeited if I vacate the premise before 3 months from the date of occupation. The agreement document also states the same. Still, to confirm, I had asked Sujith Reddy - the founder, what if I leave after that, and his answer was "Why should I hold your money unnecessarily."
Now the issue started when I had to close my business and vacate the premise. When I asked for the advance he said I have to give him a notice of 45 days! This was a surprise to me as this was never told and not mentioned in the agreement too. When I pointed this out, he said that was his company policy.
I mentioned no coworking space works this way and the purpose of co-working spaces are ease of doing business. I gave him some examples of other co working spaces, he said, those are big companies I cannot do that. So, basically it is not a co-working space as they claim it to be. It's a business center.
Finally, after lot of emails and chats he came up with Rs.7500 refund. (after last month s rent deduction). I thought something is better than nothing and called him back for Rs.7500. Here begins another twist, he stopped picking up my calls. I sent several messages and called many times from January 2018 till date, he never responded. But whenever I call him from other phone numbers he picks up the call. His standard answer was "Hey it was my marriage - I was busy" I will pay you next moth first week. (Busy for 6 months after marriage? :)). I had also been to his office (at HSR layout) several times, just to hear some employee say Sir, is not here Don t know when he will come. Finally, after lot of chasing, I gave up and hence this review.
So folks, if you are looking for co working spaces there are better options these days. As for me I have moved to workadda - a decent place without any security deposit.
After reading all this, if you still want to be at Sierra Cartel (Alpha Work Spaces Ltd), make sure you put every detail in an agreement document (Stamp Paper). Do all your payments through accounts and cheques.( a mistake I made).
If anyone is still not convinced and want any proof, I will share the email and chat conversations I had with Sujith with another co-founder on CC.
BTW did I mention the internet connection is pathetic there? And you are made to believe that it is always the problem of the ISP.
