Used to be a family culture on campus, now they only want more work since COVID-19.

Stats speak for itself when it comes to education, but as far as being an employee there were so many unfair & discriminatory issues happening. My previous direct report held me back in so many ways. She would offer opportunities to others yet passed me up for so many. Diversity was very limited until a couple years ago when the new DCO hired in a very diverse group of people for non nursing departments. Such a glass ceiling!! After all my years of dedicated service I still wasn't offered a position to help me excel at all. The DCO fed me lies about waiting for a position to open when someone retired only to be told they weren't filling that position. I trained new hires... twice... for a position I could clearly be successful in only for them to hire someone over my head. I don't appreciate the discriminatory acts against me nor the deceit used to push me out. I couldn't stand to be lied to anymore so I performed my daily expectations & that wasn't enough. When COVID-19 happened there was no guideline to follow, they just wanted people to go home & work like slaves with no support or pause to talk about what's happening in the world around us. They expected more work & no compensation in pay to help with increased living expenses. Nor did they consider parents with school age children & how WFH would affect expected performance. Since my best wasn't enough... I was terminated.
Okay that's the bad right. So the good would be how I appreciated leadership's approval when I had to flex my schedule for personal business, or support during an illness or family emergency, or how they fed employees during most large meetings (way too much food involved), or how many were easy to chat with & had a friendly tone. Thanks for the experience to learn & grow as an individual through several tough situations... although I was overworked & underpaid.
