Review of Mooxy

What a great hotel.

What a great hotel.

Stayed only one night (April 5-6) but would have loved to have stayed longer and will definitely stay again.
LOCATION: The best thing to me was the location. As a New Yorker, the idea of staying at a hotel right in the Times Square area (I'm talking the area between 42nd and 52nd) is insane. The Moxy is close enough to Times Square but far enough that you're not affected by the crowds and the noise.
ROOM: The trend these days is for small-ish but well appointed rooms and the Moxy was spot on. It was big enough for me. I liked the big shower. If I had been staying with another person, the layout might have been problematic. The bed is pushed pretty much against the far window wall and the toilet is in the same space as the shower but since I was alone, there was no problem. The sink is out in the room which was kind of odd but was Ok because it worked with the overall design of the room. The lack of carpeting was fine with me but I think some guests might not like that. The shades in the room were brilliant. They completely blotted out the daylight so I could sleep in a bit. The bed was very comfortable (and I'm picky). The pillows were not good at all BUT this seems to be the way it is at every place I stay. Hotel pillows are always way too soft. The room had this nifty folding table and chair. I liked it so much that I tried to find out who the manufacturer was. The room was immaculately clean.
OTHER: I didn't get to check out the bar and restaurant scene but it seemed nice. They did have an option to order breakfast from this place on 7th called Egghead but I didn't notice the menu until too late in the morning. They did have a small area where you could "grab and go" but the options were not that great. Wish they had more stuff.

I would definitely recommend the Moxy for a single or a couple. Families might find the accommodations lacking. Location and price are great.
