I've flown in and out of this place often so I'd had my fair share of good days and bad. Sad thing though, its mostly bad. The airport security is slow and stupid (I mean these people have no brains, are either not properly trained or just plain don't care). Their rates for most flights that are domestics are fine but their international flights are limited and overpriced. 9/10 your almost always better off going to JFK (its truly the best for international flights on the east coast, better schedules, better staff). I don't know where it is Newark finds the people they employee (baggage, security, all the low level guys) but its very clear they don't care for quality, training, and most likely of all that they would rather hire cheap so they can fire on a whim or blame the little guy if a bad story shows up in the news. If your a business person at all and you do not have business class seating and priority boarding and such, you are better off leaving New Jersey and going elsewhere if you travel at least 3 times a month because the hassle is not worth it. Do they lose your luggage often? Not much more so than other airports of similar size (in my experience). Do they care about your travel experience? Not in the least. At the end of the day will they get you where you need to? Yes, but with headaches aplenty.
