My husband and I stayed at this resort, for the first time, about a month ago. Unfortunately, it was our last. We will not go back.
Like other reviews commented, it is a very run down resort and in need of some TLC. Our unit had chipped paint on the walls, corduroy bedspreads from the 80's and a t.v. that was from The Flintstones. And not to mention the bathroom that had a strong odor of dog urine. As we entered the unit, the sweep on the door fell off. That was a sign of what we were walking into.
We have been to other resorts with similar decor but we definitely did not pay over a $1,000 for 2 nights. Their prices are unjustified. I would have given 1 star but the meals that were included were ok...not outstanding, just ok. We had not been away for some time and we were looking so forward to a well earned getaway for a few days, only to be very disappointed.
When we read other rave reviews about this resort, we assumed these folks must have stayed in the recently renovated units. We could not believe some of the glowing reviews. They claim they are still doing renos in some of their responses to negative reviews. Perhaps they should alter their prices, according to where you stay on the premises, as our unit was an absolute dump. We don't have unreasonable standards by any means but this place was definitely not worth the money.
Having said all of this, the staff was friendly, for the most part. We were not surprised upon check out, that we were not asked how our stay was, which is the standard, I believe. They were aware of the unit we were in and knew not to ask.
To sum up our stay, two thumbs down. Step up your game, Fern Resort.
