UT Dallas is one of the most underrated institutions I've ever known, and I'm not just saying that because I go there. The academics at UTD are highly ranked in many departments, including business, computer science, biology, speech-pathology, criminology, etc. the campus is one of the safest you will ever find, and the students are down to earth, diverse, and most importantly friendly people. If you haven't already considered attending UT Dallas, I would recommend giving it a good look!
